"+8 billionaires own as much wealth as 3.6 billion " That is deceptive. One, there are several poor countries where people essentially have no wealth such as in Africa and India. Next, you have rich countries like the US who are negative wealth and are fine. I have negative wealth and I am fine, so are many others. An Ethiopian person has essentially no wealth but has more than me. Who is better off?

Oli, Kyle lives in an echo chamber much like TYT does. They are failing as a whole and refuse to bring outsiders who disagree with them to debate them. Shapiro and Crowder actually debate and have discussion with people on the opposite side which earns respect. Fact is that at the rate Kyle is going his show will be almost done in a few years.

Oli, after the Bernie vs Cruz debate it was clear that Cruz won. Cruz came prepared with data and facts and laid out the problems of Obamacare and how more government is not the answer. All Bernie did was speak about how he wants to give "affordable healthcare" to all but never lays out a plan. After that debate Kyle could not admit that Bernie lost. He said Cruz lied but never said where and how. Fact is that Kyle will not do well in a debate against Shapiro. Maybe against Crowder because Crowder is a "comedian", but Shapiro actually knows what he is talking about.

Someone in Ethiopia most likely does not have debt. The debt per capita of Ethiopia is around $51. In the US it is over $55,000. Now that external debt, but still, Ethiopia's debt is low. In the US you can have no assets and only $10 in your possession and you will have more wealth than 25% of the country because several have negative wealth due to loans such as home loans and college loans. That is why we have massive wealth inequality, many have negative wealth. But as wealthy nation we can get away with it showing that wealth inequality is actually good depending on how you look at it.

Chomsky could not connect with anyone, not even a lot of his own peers (like me, a doctorate student so about the same level as him education wise) would connect with him enough to support him.

Dialyzed Gaming, that stat is very misleading. For one there are several poor countries that make up a large portion of the population where the people there have essentially zero wealth. In rich countries like the US you have people like me that have negative wealth due to debt. But who is better off, me or some poor person in Ethiopia? Obviously because I am typing you a message from the comfort of my lab on high speed internet. But when you have a large portion of the population with no wealth, and a large portion in rich countries with negative wealth, than the fact that 8 people have more wealth than 3.6 billion is a very deceptive thing to say. Also, wealth does not equal income and does not mean someone is well off. You can take a person with no wealth from some South American tribe and make them very wealthy by simply giving them the Hope Diamond worth over $200 million. But that person will not value that diamond much and may end up throwing it in the river making them having having essentially no wealth again. You have to be careful with numbers.

But then why bring it up?
1
It is a factual statement, but most that bring it up use it as a way to claim that our current system sucks and we need more socialism. Kyle, who is a socialist, has used this stat in the past to make a claim that capitalism is wrong and people are greedy and we need to tax the rich at obscene amounts. It is a factual statement, people present it in a misleading way.

Jeremy, how so? If you are going to make accusations you have to have evidence to back them up. I don't troll, I give opposing view points. Those that call me a troll have nothing to say and resort to name calling.

Polden, what I am showing is that you have to be careful in how you present data. You say that 8 people own more wealth than 3.6 billion people combine. That is factually true, but how you present it is flawed. There are poor countries that make up a good portion of the population of people with essentially no wealth. But, in rich countries like the US we have people with negative wealth. As I said, I have less wealth than a poor person in Ethiopia. But as a whole I am way better off. That is why there is large wealth inequality. In rich countries people are able to go into debt and still be well off. That skews the number. This is why you have to be careful with statistics. You can't just throw numbers around when you don't fully understand what they mean.
1
Jeremy, how about you give an actual rebuttal. Again, accusations require evidence.
1
Jeremy, all you have are personal attacks. You lost this debate already. When you start using phrases like "fair share" you lost the argument as well. What you feel is "fair" other feel isn't. Remember, the government thought it was "fair" to allow people to treat slaves as property. What is "fair" is subjective.
