Two counter arguments to this. 1. Women do this out of desperation and could get addicted. Where I live "escorts" charge around $300/hr. You see 6 guys in a day that is $1800. As of now it is tax free as it is done illegally, but even if taxed at say 50%, plus cost of hotel, condoms, baby wipes for cleaning, testing, etc. you can come out with at worse $600 a day. In a week that is $3000. $3000 over 40 weeks is $120,000 for doing something that requires little thought. Some of the top escorts who are educated and can carry a conversation can charge even more. 2. Unless you are on the top in this field you are treated like crap. It is similar to the porn industry. Women have little to no power as they are a dime a dozen. They are ran through quickly and at times have to do extreme things to satisfy customers. There are no unions and little representation. It becomes a very degrading industry for women and unless you are intelligent or have the right mindset it can be destructive in life. Not really saying it should be illegal, just saying those are problems that come.

Similar to drugs, it become addicting but in the end is a career where you are done by the age of 40. You can make over $100,000, even after taxes, a year. But when young you can waste it, not be educated and than be worthless at the age of 40, and that is the best case scenario. Another reason is that it is similar to porn in that women, unless you are near the top, have very little power. No unions, no representation, women are a dime a dozen, and the men in the industry want their fantasy to where you have to do things you may not like and is degrading.

To add, in NV a major economic driver are the Casinos and prostitution. You can earn a lot of money by simply fucking or parking cars or serving drinks. Making prostitution legal adds that element to that state to where why get educated when you can earn $100,000 a year fucking? It does generate a society that is less educated. NV is near the bottom in education no because of poor schools but because of a lifestyle like that.

It is very tempting at that rate and for someone not raised in the right environment it can become addicting and do a lot of harm. Also, the ethics and morality of porn has been debated as well. If you want to talk hypocrisy I find it hypocritical how so many leftist support the idea of legal prostitution and support porn when they are industry where the workers, the women in this case, have very little power. For a party that supports workers rights those industries have very little. As a whole I really don't care if it is legal or not, people just need to understand the risks.

But it is not for everyone and some women get involved for the wrong reasons. You mentioned porn. The reality is that porn is a very harsh job for women as there are no unions, no representations, and men control the aspects with their fantasy. Sam, I really don't know. With it being legal agencies can work at protecting women and giving them jobs after their career is done. There can be more protection and representation for the women. But at the same time men do this for the fantasy at times, especially old, married men. And that has them pursuing women who are willing to go the extra mile and they might not be restricted an agency. And women are a dime a dozen as they are in porn so agencies might not want to protect women as that does cost money. So as a whole I really don't know. In all I have experience in this as I have two friends who work as escorts where I am at and have participated in it for some time as it is fun and easy to get laid where picking up someone at the bar or club takes time and you really don't know what you are getting (but has its own excitement). My friends are very educated and one has a career where they earn $80,000 a year and is moving away from it. But the industry is underground. There are websites that can protect the workers (there used to be MyRedBook based out of CA for example), so that is some protection. But again, since it is underground it does discourage people from sticking to it for too long. I have seen some sad cases and they are people who don't last long. I have seen people who have done it for over 15 years since they were 18 who were dumb as a post and looked worn. I don't know if that helps. But if you were to hold a gun to my head I will say in the end nothing will change. Now the government will just tax it.

Sam, to add, there are resources that are spent on stings and with the fines they probably don't make much money. If they can regulate this I feel the government can make more money through taxes and licenses. There is that positive side to it. But for the moral side of seeing women being used up or put in bad situations I see it no different than stripping at this point, so as a whole I will say nothing will change.

The problem is that like porn women really don't have many rights. No unions and little representation. Sure when it is illegal you remove the pimps, but it is arguable that women are more protected as they can leave the pimp and seek legal protection with cops. Agencies will just run through women like the porn industry does as they are a dime a dozen. They work there but are quickly fired. With little job experience elsewhere they will have a hard time getting a job. Now what is more abusive? A hooker with a pimp can seek help and counseling.
