This is socialism but a temporary relief program.

@stuckinthemud4352 people feel like "progressive" ideas lead to Cuba or Venezuela because they grossly over simplify complex issues and feel that simply taxing the rich can pay for them. Also, Bernie praised Castro in saying he educated their society and gave them healthcare. Many Bernie supporters claim that Bernie just wants to give you healthcare and an education......I hear that I and think "like Castro did in Cuba".
2
This isn't a free handout. We are in a situation where people are being told to stay home and can't work and thus they need money. This is a temporary relief program.
2
Yeah, this isn't socialism but the far left will continue to play the games they do.
1
@GonzoJohnny , this is a temporary relief program. It is not permanent. There lies the difference.
1
@thepolishlatinofromphilly9709 ,you ideas are for permanent programs.
1
Yang was proposing something completely different.
1
This is a temporary program, that is the difference.
1
@MyReviews_karkan , being temporary does matter as people on the right support a limit government. After this issue blows over this program will end. As for people having a taste that is the danger of these programs. No matter how bad they are we can't change them.
1
Some of it is being exaggerated. As for someone directly affected, that should not change one's opinion. For example, if I have a relative or friend killed in a shooting I will still be pro gun.
1
True.
1
This is not UBI.
1
Define "sensible".
1
@dawaj3715 , it isn't that easy.
1
Far leftists don't.
1
This is a temporary relief program, completely different than what Kyle and Bernie support which are permanent programs.
1
You can say the same thing about the left. Look at Cenk being anti-union or when Bernie became a millionaire he stopped criticizing them.
1
Prophet , again, that is not me. I never say taxation is theft. And again, you always ignore the difficult questions I ask you.
1
Prophet , also, you are deflecting. Why did Bernie stop criticizing millionaires when he became one himself?
1
@stuckinthemud4352 , the US. As a whole it is hard to compare nations due to differences in cultures and population size. The US design, to me, suits us best. Problem is that we are gradually moving away from it.
1
@stuckinthemud4352 zero
1
@stuckinthemud4352 well, zero federally.
1
@stuckinthemud4352 , hard to say. As I said, zero federally. The only federal taxes I support are either 1. A tax on the states based on population like it used to be or 2. A flat income tax with a consumption tax At the state level it all depends on the individual state and what their citizens want.
1
@stuckinthemud4352 , not really for or against it. I am for a government that works for the people.
1
@stuckinthemud4352 , I do. The issue is that you are, from what I am seeing, looking for a direct answer when the issue is far more complex. That is true especially in the US with 320+ million people and our diverse culture. Consider how many states don't even have an income tax. That alone should show you how complex the issue is.
1
@stuckinthemud4352 as I said, at the federal level you either have 1. A tax on the states based on population the way it used to be or 2. A flat income tax with a consumption tax States can decide their own tax structure based on what their citizens want.
1
@stuckinthemud4352 why do I have to give you numbers? This is a complex issue with no real answer
1
@stuckinthemud4352 you don't know what i think
1
@stuckinthemud4352 because these issues are complex
1
@stuckinthemud4352 what do I want?
1
@GJMEGA1 I gave an answer.
1
@thepolishlatinofromphilly9709 and you don't understand economics.
1
@ZXD7250 , no, this is a temporary relief program to people who have jobs but can't work due to a government mandate.
1
True. Also, this is temporary.
1
This is not UBI, it is a temporary relief program.
1
Blame Trump how? No nation was prepared for this. It appears all the world leaders where shocked.
1
@andrewbrady6154 , I say we are pretty well prepared. Right now we are doing what other nations are doing and that is shut down. I don't see how gutting the CDC has made things worse.
1
@GonzoJohnny , no, government has forced many people to stop working during a crisis thus this is part of a relief program.
