Problem is that this will raise the price of drugs. Resources are limited. This is no different than when the government tried to develop affordable housing and affordable college. What happened is that the price went up.

***** Yes, resources in the medical field are limited. It takes a lot of skilled workers to produce these resources. We lack skilled workers because our tax code and social programs lowers the motivation for people to actually become skilled.

***** Social programs are fine if we had them at the state and local level. Problem is that they take up most of the federal budget and cause more problems. If these social programs were so great, than why has the medial household income dropped? Because they don't work. On productivity and wages, look up "skilled biased technological change".

***** We do lack skilled workers. You obviously are not a skilled worker yourself.

***** If you lose your job than you should ask friends and family for help. Also, I never said all social programs are bad. I am saying that there are too much now.

This will raise the price of drugs. The person who says that drug prices will always go up is not correct. With competition drug prices will go down. Issues is that we don't have competition when it comes to healthcare in general in the US.

Funny, because liberals keep pushing economic ideas that have never worked

Miguel Ramirez The Great Depression was caused by over taxation and government spending. FDR turned the recession into a depression. Ever heard of the economic crash of 1921? I bet not. It was just as bad as the one in 1929. What did the government do? Nothing. How long did it last? A year. The Great Recession was because of the bank bailouts. Once again, the government getting involved hurt the economy.

Alex Cuellar Actually Hoover did a lot during the recession. During the crash of 1921 Hoover was asked to come up with a plan to fix it. When he did a year later the economy was recovering so he did nothing. He implemented that same plan in 1929 after that crash. FDR expanded it which, in the end, caused a depression. So no, Hoover was not hands off. In the 50s we had lower taxes and lower regulations. In 1967 there were 155 Americans who earned over $200,000 that year that paid $0 in federal taxes. That is why there was a tax reform bill passed in 1969. Also in the 50s every other country was rebuilding while the US wasn't. It gave us an economic advantage.
