  2. I watched it and I watch PragerU. The video is wrong around 1:40 when it said the US has a "free market" system. We don't and that is where the problem lies. This video equated "private" with "free market" which isn't true.

  7. RedRobot, that's one. But you have to consider this, in the US many ideas of the left align with what the Nazis did. Infrastructure spending and growth of government to save the economy. And attacking one group of people (the rich in the US case). Now I feel the Nazi comparison is asinine on both sides, but you have to realize many ideas that the left in the US want to do the Nazis did as well.

  12. benman23, the WHO stats are not without flawed. In fact, their ranking was criticized so much they have not released another one in almost 20 years. It compared the US to countries like Malta. Also, I looked into the WHO and I cannot find the names of the contributors. I cannot see their credentials. Why are they hiding those names?

  19. The video is wrong around 1:40. We do not have a free market system in healthcare, that is why it is so expensive. We have a for profit system with government barriers. A major one, in my opinion, is the payroll tax. Now you may say get rid of the for profit system. But that system leads to higher innovation and more efficiency in healthcare. Our quality is very high in the US because of the for profit system.

  23. Daniel, police and fire fighters are ran and funded locally. Around 70% of fire fighters are volunteer and many are private. Even at that you don't have to go to school for 10+ years to be a cop where you do to be a doctor. Healthcare is a much more complex and expensive system. Your police and fire fighters comparison is very poor.

  25. There is a book called "Debunking Utopia" where it is mentioned why universal healthcare works in other countries. One reason is because people are not fat. The US does have an obesity problem. Single payer could work if you tax junk food at an obscene amount.

  26. Wolfen, in comparison of eating out the US eats out more than Japan, Canada, and the UK in terms of food dollar spent. The US spends around 40% of their food dollar eating out. Canada was around 24%, UK was around 30%, and Japan was around 21%. And the trend in the US is growing.

  30. The idea that the government can just offer a take or leave price to healthcare providers isn't that easy. If the government sets the price too low and say "take it or leave it" then providers will take it, and lower the quality.

  32. Cross Counter, rich people have different financial responsibilities than someone who is poor. It is easy to be poor on the outside looking in and be jealous of the rich. But I guarantee you if you were rich you would feel differently about taxing the rich more.

Many of the rich donate their money and feel that charities are better at helping people then the government. Many of the rich invest their money to grow a company. And the rich work hard, they do like to enjoy their life. Your emotions are based purely on greed and jealousy.

There are many things the Nazis did that the left wants to do as well, such as infrastructure spending, growth of government, and blame a group for our problems. However, the Nazis were extreme and violent. As radical as I see the left is I don't see them as being violent in wanting to kill rich people. I refrain from using the Nazi comparison.

  49. James Mills, I agree nothing is truly "free market". However, our healthcare industry is far from it. The payroll tax led to major problem in healthcare. Because higher wages means higher taxes for businesses to pay they pay with healthcare insurance instead. Because of that consumers cannot choose the type of insurance they can receive and healthcare insurance has become healthcare. From there we have created Obamacare. So to say that the US system has a free market is simply not true. As for some things being public I agree, but we need to keep it as local as possible.
