Problem is the democratic party got too radical. They can't support their own policies and thus instead call their opponents racist, bigot, sexist, etc. They have become so radical that if you talk about Obamacare and removing it they automatically want it replaced with another government program. The problem is that the federal government is involved with healthcare to begin with. They are so radical that they want to push for extreme socialism and call everything a right. This is why they lost, people stop buying into their uneducated garbage.

The problem with the policies that Kyle keeps talking about is that they are vague. What is a "living wage" and how do we obtain it? You can't just raise the min. wage and expect that to simply work. People are not in favor of universal healthcare, CO showed that. And when they find how it will be implemented then they go against it. Same with universal college. Kyle simply saying the phrase "common sense" shows he has no real standards on those issue which is why they lost. That is why Bernie lost. They were vague promises.

Pierre Lindgren Actually that is not true. I suggest you see what you have in Sweden and compare it to what the democrats were pushing for in the US. It is way more extreme. Even at that, Sweden has what, less than 10 million people? That is not a valid comparison.

Pierre Lindgren So yes, the policies are radical.

L Seb Bernie was promising things he could not have offered at all. His stance was extreme. There was no way he could offer college to all or healthcare without increasing our debt by a lot or lowering the quality. Chances are it would have been a mixture of both. It is extreme socialism because he has labeled himself as a socialist and pushes for extreme policies.

L Seb Nothing he was proposing has either worked elsewhere or have even been tried.

L Seb "Free college" only "works" in Germany because they track students. Thus if the government feels that you don't have the ability to go to college then you can't go. It is debatable if "free healthcare" works in Germany. The big banks could have been broken up if we didn't have the bailouts. The top 10% pay 70% of federal income taxes while earning only 40% of the income. In 1967 there were around 200 Americans who earned over $200,000 that paid $0 in federal income taxes. So much for taxing the rich.

L Seb https://www.aei.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/-the-business-of-health_110115929760.pdf Read that on healthcare. On college, Bernie wanted it for all, Germany only has it for some. Big difference.

L Seb And not everyone in Germany is allowed to go to college. That is the point. Bernie wanted to make it available to all, no country does that.
