BackRowRacing98 It is hard to determine what is a blue state and what is a red state. There are states who dominate one part or another, but for the most part they are all pretty even.
CA and TX are really comparable. They both have large populations, both possess strong universities, both possess a large group of Hispanic immigrants, both have something that can drive their economy in Silicon Valley in CA and oil in TX. The fact that TX is growing economically and in several standards is better economically it does seem to correlate with years of conservative policies. Now CA does a lot of things right, and TX struggles in some areas, I believe teen pregnancy is higher in TX (but CA is like 2nd in abortions).
There is a lot more to it, as a whole saying that those with low IQs vote republican is false. Being in graduate school I know several colleagues of mine who vote republican, and these are PhD candidates. To also say that the most intelligent come from "blue" states is also deceptive in a lot of ways. States who are "blue" might not be really "blue", and same with states that are "red". Johnson County, KS is about as conservative as it gets. A few years back they voted to raise property taxes to increase funding for schools.

vuk911 Healthcare is important. I rather have access to high quality of care than low quality of care of healthcare. People always talk about access to care but if the care is poor than what does it matter?
CA has high abortion rates, that cuts down on teen pregnancy.
I am neither democrat or republican, I am a moderate. If I were forced to chose one side I would pick republicans. The reason why is because one, their policies have more success. Another, and the main reason, is because how the political left acts. They are some of the most ignorant people ever. Look at the recent Michael Brown and Garner situations. Police brutality is an issue we should discuss, they choose to pick two examples that are not police brutality mainly because race is involved.
Take the min. wage, people like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren throws around phrases such as "living wage" or "starvation wages" which means nothing. A "living wage" is deceptive but they throw it around for emotional talk. Same is with gay marriage. We have a way to solve the problem, they don't recognize it and call marriage a right, or healthcare, they call that a right as well. They just pick and choose what rights are now.
I can go on but the ignorance from the left is amazing.
