The point of the electoral college is that we are the United States of America. The states represent the federal government. Each state elects representatives to represent their state in DC. The federal government, with the exception of treason and the draft, did not have power over the citizens. It had power over the states. Thus the president should be elected in such a manner. Without that only a handful of states could run the country. If you get rid of the electoral college than you might as well get rid of the states and become one big country.

If you get rid of the EC than you might as well get rid of states and have the federal government call all the shots. I know liberals will really hate that. For example, all those states who just raised the min. wage will have to follow the federal standards at that point because they won't exist as states. Do you think the republican control fed is going to raise the min. wage?

Of course a guy who supports centralized government, class warfare, and redistribution of the wealth will want to do away with the electoral college. Bernie really needs to learn history and the design of this country. But what am I saying, he is socialist with three homes.
