When did he say the virus is a hoax? On climate change, when did he say it was a hoax? In this video he is correct. People have overblown climate change and they are, based on the numbers so far, exaggerating this virus.

Hellenistic Helmet I can actually read scientific papers well considering I have authorship on a few. I understand that lack of PPE and ventilators were a problem, but they are not anymore. We have flattened the curve but many are freaking out. Also, the deaths have been overstated at around 25%. 25% is interesting because if you look at yearly flu deaths they will give a number of around 70,000 but a range of 20 to 30 percent. As for hydroxychloroquine, there are doctors who feel it has potential. Dr. Didier Raoult is one. Others have papers entitled "Breakthrough: Chloroquine Phosphate Has Shown Apparent Efficacy in Treatment of COVID-19 Associated Pneumonia in Clinical Studies" and "Chloroquine as prophylactic agent against COVID-19?" And doctor Daniel J Wallace says it is a safe drug. Virus cases are dropping.

I agree, but many on the left are ignoring scientists that go against their ideas. For example, they are ignoring doctors who say Chloroquine is safe and a potential option for this virus, or the experts saying the death rate is overstated.

The irony of talking about ignorance. The political left continues to ignore scientists that disagree with them and go as far as censoring them. Rush is not saying don't test. He is saying that more tests will lead to more cases being found. Despite more testing case numbers are dropping. The numbers suggest this virus is not that bad.

Irony in saying "anti-science views". No fan of Rush but I would like to hear evidence on his viewpoint on evolution. On the big bang he has a point. While there is evidence we do not know for sure. However, in this video he is correct. It is similar to climate change. People have been fear mongering for years on it but nothing bad is happening. They do so while ignoring scientists overall. The same is with this virus. There are experts who feel that feel the virus is being overblown and we need to get back to life. And there is evidence that the deaths are overstated. In CO they listed a man with a 0.55 BAC that also had the virus as a virus death.

He is not arguing for less tests. Reality is that we have more tests but the number of new cases is dropping. In one state I did a ratio of number of new cases a day over number of tests a day. In April the average was 0.1. Now in May it is 0.04. That means less cases even with more tests.

The reality is that little is known about climate change. We do not know how much of a threat it is, how much should man play a role, and what our approach should be? That is why the left cannot get any scientists to speak on their behalves but instead a 17 year old girl from Sweden. As for the virus, there is data showing that it is exaggerated by 25%. Hellenistic Helmet you endanger people all the time unless you live in the country. I did just by leaving my apartment to go to work. I also do by cooking on my stove top. We need to stop living in fear and move on in life. There are millions of ways to die. Gun shot, car accidents, cancer, heart attacks, stroke, etc. This virus is just one more. And the death rate is low to begin with.

That is why I said with the flu the range is around 20 to 30 percent because many who die with the flu also had other healthcare complications. Same is with this virus. Consider the number one cause of deaths is heart disease and the number four is chronic lower respiratory disease. Now consider what this virus attacks. Chances are high those who die with the virus were near death to begin with. Problem is we cannot say for sure as we have no control. It isn't like we can bring them back to life and try again. Also, many states are opening up and there has been no spike. There has also be evidence of an immunity. WI opened up and people flooded the bars. I feel more and more people are simply going to realize this virus we simply have to live with and move on. Eventually people are are scared will have to give in or be left behind.

Other states have clearly handled this better. Also, NY cases have been declining for a long time but he still refuses to open up. The federal government gave them more beds and resources but he refused to use them. Also, there is data suggesting the virus is not that dangerous. There are experts who feel that way like Stanford prof. John Ioannidis. Or the two Bakersfield doctors. However, no one listens to them. Data is out there that this is no deadlier than the flu and that the 90,000 deaths are overstated. The state of CO recently admitted that their deaths are around 25% overstated when they were criticized from listing a guy with the virus, but also a 0.55% BAC level as a virus death. And the mayor of San Diego said that only 6 people have died strictly from the virus. You claim I have ignorance but appear to be buying into the fear mongering. Go ahead and stay inside, others will move on leaving you behind.

@brandonavery133 I am saying that the data, overall, in this virus death is small and thus has a large error to it. Also, we do not have a control in this aspect. Someone who died of a heart disease with the virus is considered a virus death. However, we cannot bring them back to life, strip them of the virus and then measure how long they will live. Thus the uncertainty is high at that point. So when one says 90,000 deaths of the virus you have to understand that is around 0.02% of the nation and thus the error in that is small. This is aligns with statistics. In statistics the larger the sample size the smaller the error bar due to the math from it. Same here. The small data set leads to a large error bar where we cannot accurately measure to what degree the virus plays a role in the death.

Hellenistic Helmet you do not know what I am talking about. To start, if you go by deaths per million many other nations are doing worse such as Italy, Spain, France, and so on. Also, our stats are inflated by the fact that NY and NJ have almost half of the deaths. Next, the issue is that many factors play a role in a person's death with the virus. Almost all who die are either old or sick to begin with. So you cannot say if he virus is the cause or something else, or a collection of things. Most who die beyond an accident or murder have several health complications. As for your steak knife example, that is not my point. My point is that there are risks in life that can kill us. We can die from cancer, traffic accidents, murder, heart attacks, etc. What we do in life is that we access the risk, take precautions and go from there. With the steak knife example it is "it is sharp so handle it with care". Same with this virus, take precautions to alleviate the chances of getting it. If so, take precautions to get better. To add, there is evidence that an immunity with T-cells can be developed. A Science article talks about it. But why listen to scientists?

@brandonavery133 and overall, yes. It does begs to question if COVID-19 is really bad. The deaths represent 0.02% of the total population. So is shutting down the entire economy leading to nearly 40 million unemployed and creating financial hardship was worth saving less than 0.1% of the population? Around 40,000 die a year in traffic accidents a year but we do not ban driving. Same with this virus. Sure, the initial shutdown was needed for a novel virus to relieve the healthcare system and learn more about this virus. But we have done both. An article in Science shows that people have obtaining T-cells which build up long term immunity, and many had it from other coronaviruses. In all, more data is suggesting the virus is not that dangerous. As with the deaths, it is only an issue because we are monitoring it on a daily basis and overstating. We do not do that with other deaths which is why it is not a big deal.

I just cited an article from Science, one of the most prestigious journals in science suggesting a long term immunity can be developed and many already have the T-cells prior to getting COVID-19. Why do you ignore that? "There are people who died from coronavirus without pre-existing conditions." And they are very minute, statistically unmeasurable. What's your point?

@ZXD7250 some regulations are good, but too much are not. How many companies are polluting the waters? Not much. Besides, regulations should be local as they cater to the local environment. The GND, if in a rough draft phase, is still a massive overreach. The private sector actually has been doing a great job in the production of alternative energy. What makes you think the federal government can micromanage that complex issue? They cannot even make a website. And I agree, we will have to go to alternative energy, but we should transition into it instead of forcing it. Forcing it will harm the economy. As for climate change in general, read the book "Why We Disagree About Climate Change" by prof. Mike Hulme, a well respected researcher in the field. Also, consider the complexity of the issue in how you need fossil fuels to advance us.

It has been. However, people are fighting back. Cuomo is scared at this point now he is talking about children. WI went to their supreme court and won and they all flocked the bar. Fact is that more people are realizing this virus is most likely not that dangerous and we simply have to live with it. But there are politicians like Cuomo, Whitmer and Newsom using it for control. Luckily when they go broke the current administration won't bail them out and the vast majority of the nation won't care. And Whitmer's action may lead to Trump winning that state in a landslide.
