Bernie was talking about how the government wastes millions of tax payers dollars. Immediately after that he pushes for that same government to run you healthcare and college education which will require more of your tax dollars. Bernie is an idiot. He lost because people are not that dumb.

If you allow them to control your healthcare and college education they will spend it on corporations involved in healthcare and college education that are politically connected. Akmal, when Cruz brought up the cost of Bernie's healthcare plan on the Cruz vs Sanders debate Sanders did not deny the numbers. " It's the people's money. " Not if it belongs to the rich. Also, our defense spending is around 3% of our GDP. Healthcare is around 16%. Even if it is true on what Bernie has said in the past that his plan will cut healthcare spending in half (it isn't), that is still 8%. 8% is higher than 3%.

James Dagnan, the comparison to the Lamborghini is not a bad comparison. But, when Cruz brought up Bernie's plan and on how much it would cost Bernie did not give a counter argument nor did he deny the numbers. Bernie can't even defend his own plan. All he ever does is deflect.

G Kaiser, allocating taxes just increases demand when we are already short supply on professors, TAs, tutors, rooms, equipment, dorms, etc. All you are going to do is give colleges another excuse to raise tution more. I was asked by one of my students the other day if it is hard to become a TA and I said no. The reason why is because we are so short TAs and universities are increasing enrollment by a lot that they will take any warm body. So not only are you increasing the cost of colleges you are lowering the quality.

Government spending is almost three times hire today than it was in the 50s. But you truncated the data to the 80s to fit your agenda. On supply and demand more college students means more people needing a place to live. Thus rent goes up due to limited supply of rooms to rent. Demand went up but supply didn't. So guess what happened? Prices go up. Land prices are going up because people with vacant lots and buildings know that they can charge more since the demand for land is up. This is how I know you did not take economics or you did not learn anything.
