There are always boom bust cycles, just that the busts don't last long. Busts happen due to the economy evolving. The two slowest recoveries from busts were in 1929 and 2007, those were times when we had tax increases, increase in spending and increase in regulations. Every other busts were done in around 5 years with minimal federal government involvement. Trickle down works, just that wealth trickles down. Money isn't the issue here, we can raise taxes and pass money around easily, it is wealth we have to create. With higher taxes there will be more revenue, but if there isn't any wealth to buy then it doesn't matter.
