@thinkingmachine354 , true. Kyle's fans are very ignorant. I literally suggest books for them to read on certain issues and they call me a right wing hack.

@thinkingmachine354 , I come to Kyle because he brings up issues we need to talk about. Many on the left does. But the problem is that the solutions they bring up are over simplified and the stance that him, and his fans take, are that the other side is simply wrong or corrupt. A great video about that is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsmUw5FMxH0 To them their ideas are the best, the solutions are simple, and people that oppose the are simply ignorant or corrupt. Reality is that these issues they bring up are far more complex. A great example is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPmHBDXkRfo&t=652s Saying to "google it", which is what Sam Seder did in his recent debate in Politicon, is foolish as these issues are complex. When I present opposing viewpoints to Kyle's fans or give them sources to read I am not saying their ideas are bad, I am saying that the issue is complex and we should have a discussion on them.

@thinkingmachine354 , I agree, Kyle's fans don't seem to want to branch out to other ideas. There are solid arguments on both sides.

@hughmiller6389 , I doubt you actually read a peer reviewed paper. Scientists are uncertain of the effects of climate change. The ecosystem is very complex. We don't know how it will evolve.
2
@hughmiller6389 , you do know "skeptical science" is not even ran by a scientist? I suggest you stop pulling the same sources and do what I do, study science for a living. When you do than you can find out how complex it is and how little we know.

He should be mocked. He did not explain how.

This is called weather.

@thinkingmachine354 , to me, a major reason why Trump was elected was because of our lack of dialogue. Look at our two recent candidates for president on the democrat side. Clinton had little desire to rally in swing states and felt she had the election won. Bernie had no desire to actually listen to the other side. When pressed on the issues he resorted to talking points. A great example is this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bapp45Vx0UE&t=2138s Go to the 35 minute mark and see how Bernie reacted and compare him to Bill Clinton https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy542UgSelQ&t=18s Notice the major difference? Bill showed he took the time to understand how a business operates and the challenges they face, and that his proposed law will harm some people. Bernie has no desire to understand the other side. Kyle, being a Bernie fan, is the same way. He keeps saying "help Bernie help you". How can I trust Bernie to "help" me when he has no desire to understand the issues and other people's positions? Because of that Trump was elected as that the left cannot connect with the common man where Trump did. Until the left decides to have a dialogue they are going to continue to fail.

What you described is simply you being dramatic.

No different than this argument made by Kyle. "It was hot here thus climate change is bad".

@hughmiller6389 , I do study science for a living. Reality is that we know very little about this issue. We don't know how the ecosystem will react. We don't know how much man is playing a role. That is why the science is far from settled. You say methane absorbs at 100X, 100X compared to what? What wavelength? You can't throw numbers out there without units or some kind of comparison. If you studied science for a living you will understand how little we know.
1
@BabeOfBlasphemy , your comparison is poor. I can die by weighing myself to the bottom of a pool, does that mean water is bad? Science is uncertain on this issue. I never said that the engines effect the atmosphere. My questions are how much, and if it is even a threat.
1
@73151cb , I know what I am talking about. Have you actually read the papers yourself or just go off of what other people tell you? Seriously, think for yourself for once.

@hughmiller6389 , science involves many fields, that includes climate change. It is complex. How will climate change influence photosynthesis? You can't say as we don't fully understand the physics behind photosynthesis. We know very little in how reactions occur. I, myself, am writing a paper related to energy and reaction locations. We use small systems as we can't do research on larger ones. https://webbook.nist.gov/cgi/cbook.cgi?ID=C124389&Type=IR-SPEC&Index=1 https://webbook.nist.gov/cgi/cbook.cgi?ID=C74828&Type=IR-SPEC&Index=1 While both IR, they absorb at different energies. A lot absorb IR, including water https://webbook.nist.gov/cgi/cbook.cgi?ID=C7732185&Type=IR-SPEC&Index=1 So what's your point? Also, again, 100x compared to what? Quantum physics is valuable here as we know very little at the quantum level and don't know how the ecosystem will react. That is the point. We don't know how reactions occur or photosynthesis, what makes you think we know how the entire ecosystem will evolve with current climate change?

@Mason Rued , I do have an understanding of it. I have 4 peer reviewed papers published and working on 5th.

@hughmiller6389 , my point on photosynthesis is that we don't understand how something very basic works. Prof. Greg Engel gave a talk that I attended and he showed a picture describing photosynthesis from a 7th grade text book. He showed that to make the point that despite us knowing what photosynthesis does we don't know how. That is why his studies it with 2D ES. He works out the University of Chicago where they have ultrafast spectroscopists like him and Tokmakoff. The fact we know very little about something basic in the ecosystem shows that we can't draw a strong conclusion on climate change as we don't know how the ecosystem will react. That is my point. You mention temperature. I do study related to biological systems and changes in temperature. I won't give you my work as I don't want to tell you who I am, but here is a paper on work related to what I do https://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/jp502062p We don't know how molecules change with temperature change which is why it is researched. IVR influences reactions and it is clear that a change in temperature changes IVR rates thus reactions. Now what happens on the big picture? We can't say. But what do I know, according to you I don't understand science even though I gave you two names and a peer reviewed paper that I know off of the top of my head.
1
@Mason Rued , you know, I just posted a comment citing two professors and posting a peer reviewed paper that I know off of the top of my head.
1
@hughmiller6389 you are missing my point. My point is we don't know how the ecosystem will react to the current changes. The science is not settled
