I argue that we should pay teachers based on both needs and quality. If a teacher is willing to work at a low income school or teach special ed. or math, subjects with low supply of teachers, than they should be paid more. If a teacher wants to teach history at a school in a richer district than they should be paid less. Increase the incentive to actually teach our kids. An idea of public education is to help out the less fortunate. Kids from rich neighborhoods are going to be well off with or without a strong K-12 education. Low income students are more dependent on a K-12 education. Giving the incentive for better teachers to go there would improve our schools. But since public education is a government run program it won't establish that.

Kyle, once again, points to polls only when it suits his ideas. This is why he does not get many views. He is inconsistent on his approach on top of being wrong most of the time.

Are they paid peanuts? They sign 180 day contracts, get every weekend and holiday off along with every summer. Also, during the recession they did not see a pay cut where private jobs did. It is easily arguable they are paid the right amount.

Cygnus X-321, there are some issues there. 1. Since 2000 we have had a major recession. Many private sector jobs saw a pay cut as well. Chris Christie discussed the issue with a teacher union member on it on how teachers had to take a paycut. You can find the video on Youtube. In short, teachers had to take a cut because workers in the private sector as well. Is that fair? That is up for debate. But consider that everyone was losing money since then. 2. Saying "inflation" is very flawed. There are four measures of inflation. Which one was used and why? Next, as shown by the Boskin Commission, inflation is typically overstated and government officials tend to ignore that reality for reasons like government pay and pensions.

nscloud29, I have posted peer reviewed material on healthcare. Kyle has said that no one dies in other countries due to lack of access to healthcare. However, I have posted work showing that in Canada people have died waiting for "elective" heart surgery. One paper is entitled "True versus reported waiting times for valvular aortic stenosis surgery" in the journal Can J Cardiol. Right away Kyle is wrong. In many cases he also misrepresents stories and data. "and if Kyle was all wrong someone popular in the right would have done a take down of him. Instead we have comment section cowboys on YouTube videos." He refuses to debate people. Steven Crowder challenged him and Kyle hides. Kyle gets around 20,000 views a video, Crowder gets half a million. He is being taken down by no one buying into his BS. " what is going to be your significant original contrabution to knowledge?" A lot. For example, one paper I am working reveals a new technique to measure structures of proteins to aid in protein folding measurements.

Talon9390, you are going to the extreme here. Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean they want to completely eliminate public schooling. I agree that pumping more money does not solve the problem. Other reform is needed.

AnotherKS, he misrepresents the stats or give raw stats. Anyone can do that. There is a book entitled "How to Like with Statistics". Take this issue for example. Kyle says that according to polls people lean left. However, they have been voting right recently. In Colorado, a left leaning state, 80% said no to universal healthcare. The problem with these polls is that they are vague and lack information. Asking people shallow questions on complex issues will produce unreliable results. Kyle does not accept this and thus only points to polls when it suits his narrative.

pijuskri, of what?
1
Bill Anderson, Colorado is left leaning. It voted for Clinton.
1
Bill Anderson, rural areas in CA are very conservative as well. Is CA a conservative state?
1
295Phoenix, Colorado is left leaning that voted for Bernie in the primaries. The fact that 80% of voters in Colorado said no universal healthcare says how little support it.
1
Adrian Nelson, provide a link for what?
1
Robert Templeton, that's most states. Remove the bay area and the la area and CA is very conservative
1
Robert Templeton, also, the point is that Kyle claims that on the issues people lean left. But when put up to a vote 80% said no to universal health care. That is a wide margin
1
Otto, this is why these polls are deceptive. There is a lot to it. They may like Bernie as a person or just hated Clinton. But Kyle saying that on the issues people lean left that is not true.
1
Paul Martin, teachers who work summer school are paid more. They sign a separate contract for that. At least the teachers in my district do.
1
Paul Martin, teachers get every weekend off and every holiday off. CEOs have private contracts and work essentially 24/7. If a teacher fails a few students just don't learn the material. If a CEO fails millions are out of a job and money. Big difference.
1
Paul Martin, many CEOs have been fired. Teacher unions have protected many bad teachers. Also, if a company does well a lot in society benefits. A lot of student success is dependent more on the parents than teachers.
1
ShamockParticle, if they work at all or go to workshops (where most are during the school year) they are paid. As for masters degrees, those classes are easy.
1
chang jeffrey, being a CEO is far more difficult.

nscluod29, I am a graduate student working on my PhD. I do research for both pay and school. As for Narmy's comment, do I comment a lot? At times. Lately I have been backing off as I am starting to work in my dissertation so I don't have time to comment as much. Also, based on how popular ultra leftist channels like this one is compared to channels like Steven Crowder it is safe to say people are not buying into the ultra leftist BS anymore.
1
nscloud29, to add, with Kyle's fans I literally gave the peer reviewed material showing how wrong Kyle is and people still buy into his BS. At this point I see his fans are incredibly ignorant beyond repair so I am starting to give up trying to help them.

Vantahawk, there are a lot of stressful jobs. What I do is stressful. Most jobs are unique. I work well outside of 9 to 5. I work weekends. I was at work until midnight last night.
1
I support the idea of paying teachers based on a needs basis. If you are willing to work at a low income school or work in a field with low supply, such as special ed. or science/math, you should get paid more. If you become a history teacher in a rich school you should be paid less. However, that is more of a free market approach and the teach unions, who care more about teacher money and less about student education, won't allow that.
1
Alex Hartline, I am not saying history and arts are not important. They are very important. I am talking about supply. We lack special ed. teachers, we lack math teachers. We lack teachers in low income areas. It is to create an incentive for those looking to pursue education to take on those subjects.
1
Harry Lister, those parents are poor due to bad life choices. They pass them along to their kids. Just giving those parents more money is just going to teach the kids that being lazy will result in more money.
1
The kids who will suffer the most are low income children. Kids who come from middle class and higher income families are fine. This is another example of how teacher unions don't care about the children.
