TheAsmodeus2012, there are times the constitution clearly says "people" and that is what it means. The federal government was supposed to have little influence on people's lives. That is why for years only the states were taxed and not the people. That is why nothing at the federal level is decided by the people bur instead politicians representing states and the electoral college.

B-rizz, it says general welfare of the "United States", not the people. If it were for the people it would say "the people". I know ultra leftists have trouble with words but they do matter in law.

Chomsky? The non-economist who thought Venezuela was going to be great? I rather listen to someone who knows what they are talking about.

doaditty, K-12 education are ran and funded locally. Even at that we lack teachers and funds. Defense spending is 4% of GDP, healthcare is 1/6 of GDP. It seems like your publication education failed at teaching you math.

K-12 education is ran and funded locally. Also, after high school if you feel government needs to educate you than you are a lost cost. Even at that college is vastly different than high school.

Frosted Ambassador, so your only argument is to criticize the grammar on a Youtube comment? This is not my PhD dissertation, sorry I did not proof read it. I will take this as a victory for me.

The NHS has many shortcomings. It is cheaper due to lower quality. But go ahead and leave that out.

Tim, everyone is not cover. No country covers everyone as resources are limited. On healthcare when you break it down the US is on par with other nations. Yes, we spend more, but we have more R&D and we offer more advanced care.

Troy, many on the right have ideas to help out people. You just disagree with them and make the talking point you did.

I see you hate being challenged.

BBz 79, defense spending has been stagnate for years and have been dropping for decades. There was a desire to raise it. Even with that it is still around 4% of GDP where our social welfare programs are higher. Tax cuts does not always mean less revenue. If the economy grows you bring in more revenue. What is higher, 10% of 1000 or 50% of 100? If Apple brings in money and creates 1000 jobs of people earning, on average, $60,000 a year you now have 1000 new tax payers which generates that much more revenue. That is not only including income taxes but FICA taxes, consumption taxes, property taxes, etc. That is how you pay for it. See, easy to answer. Now how do you plan on paying for your programs?

BBz 79, Bernie's numbers are off. Increasing demand for college would raise the price. Also that was one program. What about the others.
