This is a poor argument by Bernie. Trump ran on the idea that the rich, especially rich politicians, screw over the common man and a part of that was the Wall Street bail outs. Bernie basically pointed to the Wall Street bail outs and tax loop holes as if that was all Trump when it wasn't.

Trump isn't scared. In fact, these types of arguments made by Bernie is what got Trump elected in the first place. Bernie is making it seem like Trump was the one that did the Wall Street bail outs, or created the tax loop holes and subsidizes when in fact it was career politicians like Bernie that did that. And while Bernie may not have created those laws, Trump ran on the idea that the federal government for decades is not working for the people, so why should they now under Bernie?

@LoboKhan1 , saying the tax breaks were "permanent" means there is not expiration date. The taxes can change. The ones that aren't expire in 10 years, after Trump and a lot of congress members are out of office. Define a "living wage". Under Trump wages are going up and the economy is improving.

@LoboKhan1 , yes I do. The Atlanta Fed shows that. Also the St. Louis Fed shows that as well. Why a 2 bedroom apartment? And what about roommates? Define "healthy meals". Define "basic utilities". That is very vague and all over the place. Right now I live off of $1000 a month. But I can go less if I decided to do roommates and not eat out so much. A $1000, on a 40 hour work week, 4 weeks a month is $6.25 per hour. "Another "fair" rule is: the top paid employee and a company is limited to a top salary no more than 300% higher than its lowest paid employee." Why? Why cap success? Even at that if you cap their earnings it won't raise wages. For example, if you take all of the money the top 5 executives earn in Walmart, and give them to the 525,000 lowest paid employees of Walmart, they will gain an extra $131 a year, that's it. So what do you succeed by capping CEO salaries?

ryne green , did they "lose" their healthcare or decided not to by insurance when the law was revoked? Also, the tax cuts were for everyone and designed to simplify the tax code. For decades the federal government, the same government Bernie served for, catered to the rich. Trump ran on that message. So somehow under Bernie, a career politician, things will change?

ryne green , again, did they "lose" it or decided not to purchase it? Big difference. The ACA was a mess. The tax cuts for the "rich" are "permanent" because 60 votes were not obtained. All that means is that there is no expiration date on certain taxes. They can be change. The other ones expire in 10 years which means after Trump is president and a lot of members of congress are gone.

How is Bernie, a career politician, is going to argue against that? People will view him as going back to the way it used to be before Trump which was not great. Bernie has no actual plan. And as for affordable housing, housing sales are going up under Trump. Trump is also anti war. What war started under Trump? Fact is that Trump has stepped in, the economy is improving, and democrats have no actual attack on him. This is what the people wanted.

@sebastianshaw7448 , based on what is going on now, and in the past, I feel it won't be better under Bernie. The federal government has placed their hands in many programs and they have all failed. Take the Community Mental Health Act of 1963 for example. After its passage mental healthcare became worse in this nation. Or the fact that SS and Medicare are losing money and Medicare is propped up by private insurance.

"Bernie has stood against the federal government's gifts to the wealthy businessman." Eh, I don't buy that based on how he endorsed Clinton in the end. Also, the rich take advantage of a large federal government. So even if under Bernie he won't cater to the wealthy, if he gets his programs implemented what will stop future presidents from using the new power given to the federal government in catering to the rich? That is a problem as well. " Bernie advocates return to the New Deal, which empowers employees and consumers." Actually it will due a lot of harm to the economy. Also, his has no details in his policies. For example, in M4A how will he stop healthcare providers from raising prices? Or in tuition free college how will he handle the NCAA? On the GND how will he prevent electric companies from raising prices?

@ahopefor , most of the benefits went to the top earners because they pay the most in taxes. So naturally they will receive the most benefits. When you pay zero in taxes you can't cut from that. Also, as for deductions, most are in SALT which influence very blue states like NY and CA, so Trump was not going to receive their votes anyway.

@ahopefor , should it? This is why state rights were created. There is no federal policy that will ever benefit every state equally. This is why limited federal government is needed and more state rights is needed. Bernie's own plans won't benefit every state equally. Take tuition free college for example. A state like NV does not value college as high compared to states like MA. That is due to the differences in culture and economies. So why should the citizens of NV pay for tuition free college?

@ahopefor , in NV people don't pursue education after K-12. Why? Where is the incentive to become educated when you can earn 6 figures working in the mines or $80,000 parking cars or serving drinks? That is an issue at that point when it comes to Bernie's plan. The same is with the GND, what will he do with all the coal miners? This is why a states rights approach needs to be done, not a centralized plan like Bernie wants.

@ahopefor , what if they want to be retained? What if retraining involves moving to a new location? And retrained in what? And saying "retrain" is very vague and not guaranteed to work. It assumes that people can be skilled in anything and will be willing to work in anything.

And the economy goes beyond your income. Giving people more money does not mean there are more goods and services. That is actually a huge problem with economics is that very few people understand what goes on and grossly oversimplify it. Read the lecture "I, Pencil", or watch the youtube video of it. It is about a pencil and how complex it is to simply make that. 3. What will stop them from raising prices? "since M4A means that they would deal with the single payer or they would have to practice in Somalia." Why? 4. The NCAA bases their divisions, Division I, Division II, and Division III based on the number of scholarships they can provide.. For example, all D III athletes are walk ons. In D II football they have 36 full ride scholarships they can split up. In D I FBS they have 86 full ride scholarships. It is to create a balance through the divisions. With no tuition the scholarship issues goes away. So how do you split up the divisions and even the playing field? Not to be rude but this is always the best example I go to showing Bernie fans have little idea what they are talking about. They don't know how the NCAA functions and how tuition free tears apart the scholarship portion of it. 5. I agree, that is why the founding fathers pushed for limited federal government and more state rights as local governments are easier to control. It isn't about voters being stupid but more if they simply don't have time to do major research on the issues. I pointed that out with you on the NCAA. Look here, many people get information from people like David here as opposed to actual experts. You can't expect voters to be completely informed on the issues. Or even at that we only get candidates like Trump and Clinton.

@texkillerson6681 1. Define "serves the needs of individuals". That is vague and subjective. The economy is complex. You can't have a centralized power running it as different people have different needs. Your needs are different from mine. If you want the government to determine that they will say you don't "need" to eat at fast food joints as it is bad for your weight. Or you don't "need" all that money so they will tax you 2. You just prove a point I make about Bernie and his fans. They don't care about others. The NCAA offers a ton of opportunity to college students to gain experience beyond athletes. It helps students gain experience in broadcasting, marketing, student training, tutoring, journalism, etc. So it is far from irrelevant. You feel it is is because like all Bernie fans you are simply greedy and refuse to think beyond yourself. This is the hypocrisy of Bernie and his fans. They claim to care about others but when pushed on issues they dismiss legit counter points. No different than when that hair salon owner questioned Bernie during the debate with Cruz and Bernie simply dismissed her. He had no desire to understand her profit margins, compare it to competitors, expenses and other challenges a business face. Thanks for confirming Bernie fans don't care about anyone but themselves. And you wonder why he is attacked.

When Bernie was asked by a hair salon owner during the debate against Cruz on Obamacare and her business, his response was "follow the law". He had no desire to try to understand her profit margins in comparison to other businesses, not desire to understand her expenses, employee turnover, etc. All he saw was a business and said "screw you, pay up". That is an issue. Bernie dismissed someone simply because he went against his agenda. Maybe Bernie's ideas are best for the nation, but it will force people to change their ways and adjust. You should try to understand those individuals. You refusing to do that shows you don't care. Same with Bernie. And this is why people mock him. He is a greedy, corrupt, career politician.

Trying to keep jobs in the nation will raise prices on consumers hurting the poor. Watch the Youtube video by Stephen Michael Davis entitled "Protectionist Idiots vs. Free Trade" Where he discusses that. And according to the Atlanta Fed wages have gone up under Trump. But you say they haven't? Based on what data? CPI, PCE, GDP deflator? As for paycheck to paycheck, that has always been the case as people are bad at managing money. As for Trump filing for bankruptcy, you are looking at 4 times compared to his plethora of success. Travis Kelce for the Chiefs dropped a first down on Sunday, does that make him a bad tight end in the NFL? With success comes failures? What has Bernie accomplished? Fact is that economy is much better under Trump. Bernie won't be able to argue against that which is why he doesn't.

@briang8766 , is outsourcing bad? Again, outsourcing keeps the price of goods down and benefit low income earners. And prior to these trade deals factory jobs were dropping to begin with due to improvements in technology. It follows the same trend as farming jobs did in the past, but no one complains about that. Trump has done some things but again, is outsourcing bad?

@briang8766 , it is not bad as it allows for the cost of goods to be less. The reality is that the economy changes, people need to adjust. To prevent outsourcing you have to install very expensive tariffs that will raise prices on goods.

We are a very developed nation and we should push people to take on more skilled jobs. When technology took away farming jobs no one complained. But now when technology and advancement takes away factory jobs people cry. A problem with far leftists is they want the luxury of capitalism but the security of stagnation. You can't have both.
