People realizing NY is a communist state
26
The bill was full crap. Giving money to failing blue states, money to illegal immigrants, free phone calls for inmates where others like me have to pay a cell phone bill. What does that have to do with the virus? Democrats were pushing things that had nothing to do with covid.

Investigate what? If the left does not want an election investigation you won't get a January 6th one. Same with all the BLM riots that had no investigation.
4
Cases are starting to drop along with deaths.

@nkmskrilla3852 when you have a mayor that is threatening to use police force to break up peaceful gatherings, and a governor that is using this virus to gain attention than yes, you live in a communist state. NY has seen a steady decline in cases but still refuses to open up.

@madisonhanks2200 people in NY won't rise up, they are commies. I was very discouraged originally following this case but recently I am much happier. The reason is because most of the commies reside in only four states, NY, NJ, IL and CA. The rest of the nation will be fine and those states will suffer. Maybe that will be the sign for them to basically vote out the current politicians. Looks like a republican is going to win CA 25th district so that is positive.

@MuraramaGaming death rate does matter. The whole point of shutting down was to put our healthcare system in a position to alleviate deaths. People are still going to die. No matter how hard we try. We try very hard to keep people from dying from cancer, heart disease, kidney failure, etc. but they still do. The whole goal was to keep deaths from rising which we have. My state was seeing around 10 to 15 deaths a day, now we are seeing less than 5 despite record new cases.

@MrTyler918273 true.

@heyaisdabomb not that easy. How many of them are comorbidities? You talk about math but let us talk statistics. In statistics you have to weigh out the data. If someone dies from a heart failure while also having diabetes and has the virus, what role did the virus play? 10%? 20%? 5%? We do not know. Thus we make a range. If you look at deaths from the flu the CDC will give a number and than a range that ranges around 30% which is huge. Why? Most deaths had underlying conditions. What makes it hard to obtain accurate numbers is that one, 120,000 is actually a very small sample size of a nation of over 320 million people. Next, we do not have a control. It is not like we can bring these people back to life and then see how long they will live without the virus. But again, when you consider underlying conditions the death rate drops. So what math class did you graduate in?
2
@TheCaptainSplatter cases are dropping nation wide. At this point we really have to be discussing on if what we are doing is worse. Suicides are up, substance abuse is up, antidepressant use is up to the point one was placed on the FDA's shortage list, something that never happens. Kids will no be getting a proper education. And all for what? A virus where deaths are low, the recovery rate continues to climb, cases and deaths are dropping?

@user-ct8my8rv9c deceptive. If you go by per person blue states take in more money.
1
@user-ct8my8rv9c Kentucky is also home to two United States Penitentiaries and 2 Federal Correctional Institution. It also has a Federal Medical Center.

@thedillon25100 watch the debate between Harris and Gabbard.

@rage.kitten I have a science background as well. I am looking at the numbers. Norway, Denmark and Finland are seeing a spike in cases, the highest numbers they have ever seen. Sweden is not. Fact is that letting run its course is the best route. What we have done and continue to do is destroy the economy while the virus still spreads. MI had some of the strictest lockdowns. FL and TX have low cases. The virus also is transmitted in animals, thus it will always have a place to go.

@xray5984 what about investigation of antifa and BLM riots the past year? Or why wasn't there an investigation when Trump was impeached?
1
@misterguy2929 ever thought that is because NY reached herd immunity?
1
@esquire9445 he has some power. He can stop student loan payments as the Department of Education dictates that. And he can argue to stop evictions. As for unemployment benefits, there it gets tricky. But it does make Trump look good. If we go with it people get money that Congress could never give. If congress comes to an agreement Trump would look good as he forced congress to work. If democrats take it to court it will be held up in court for weeks as there are arguments to be made. One is that Congress controls the purse, but the other is that executive orders can be used in time of war and state of emergencies. Trump's team can argue the latter in that they gave Congress time to work things out but didn't and thus he had to act. Either, on the last part, payments will be stopped and democrats will be to blame. And with it being tied up in court for weeks people will blame democrats on this one and blame them voting for Trump.

Doesn't matter. People are leaving those states anyway.
1
@Bamboo4U2 and one of the lowest change in population. Over ten years the growth was around 1% where the US grew around 6%. No one is moving there.
1
@romanr.301 or maybe the reach herd immunity. Noticed how those states were slammed hard at the beginning but then saw a sharp decrease. But in CA they shut down early and never saw a decrease. Wait a few weeks. Cases will drop as herd immunity will be met.

@heyaisdabomb to add, consider how many got the virus but were not reported as they were never tested. You have to factor that in as well. Overall, when you start factoring in all the variables the death rate is less than a percent. Stanford professor John Ioannidis ran through the numbers and determined that if you are something like under 40 with no underlying conditions the chances of your dying is around 0.028%.
1
@ronwealsey9733 the death rate is lower than 5% and the chances of long term conditions are low.
1
The virus is not that deadly.

They aren't crying.
