Bendan, the issue is that the media is parading around these children to push for an agenda. These kids should be seeing a counselor, not giving speeches. Also, they have little understanding of the issue. I believe this is the same girl who claimed that it was easier to buy a fully automatic than it was to make weekend plans with friends. How can I take her ideas seriously at that point? But as a whole, the media is using these kids as shields to push for gun bans. If you disagree with any gun law you must hate children according to the media. It is sickening to take advantage of these kids emotions and ignorance.

M 0, an "assault weapon" is not define and can mean a lot. Something as small as a pistol grip can make a gun an "assault weapon". Many are pushing to ban the AR 15 when a Ruger mini 14 is essentially the same gun. As for bump stocks, the NRA has pushed to ban those, but they have been used in only one mass shooting.

Nicole Davy, gun murders have been dropping for over 20 years. What she experienced was a very rare tragedy. She has a greater chance of dying in a car accident than by a guy. But tell me, what new law would have prevented this shooting, or previous shootings?

Protection. I have a colleague who used his Desert Eagle to defend his home. Guns are used a lot to stop crime.

It is one thing to honor the dead. It is another to use this time of high emotions to push for political propaganda. That is what is being done. She is pushing for a gun ban but is ignorant on the issue all together. Also, this has gone on for a month. The media needs to move one and stop using these children as shields to push a political agenda.

"Clash gaming with Zahid why do innocent people need semi-automatic rifles?" Why do people need flat screen TVs, or alcohol, or 20 pairs of shoes, or personalized license plates? There are many frivolous things out there. People buy guns for personal protection and for entertainment. Who are you to judge? I bet there are a lot of things you have that I find to be pointless. All more gun laws do it place the guns in the hands of criminals.

"the policeman’s job is to protect us." Which doesn't always happen. If someone breaks into my apartment cops will take minutes to get there. One reason why people are allowed to own guns is so people are allowed to protect themselves and not rely on the government. Just like freedom of press allows others to educate themselves without relying on the government. "How is it ok that this 19 year old who wasn’t mentally stable legally received a gun when he can’t even buy alcohol?" Gun laws and alcohol laws are different. But if you support banning guns on the idea that they are "designed to kill", why not ban alcohol? Why does a normal civilian need that? Also, that kid never received mental testing of any kind of mental care and never had due process so they never done anything to have their rights taken away.

Jaya Elizabeth, I have a colleague who at one point lived in a bad neighborhood. He had to use his Desert Eagle to defend his home. He lived there because rent was cheap and that was all he can afford. He was a "normal civilian" that owned a gun and protected his home with it. I guess he could have called the cops and maybe they would have shown up on time. I know you must live in a gated community and never have to go to someplace dangerous, but others do, including me. Having a gun is a way to protect ourselves if needed.

Yakno Yaa, Canada has a lower murder rate than the US if you remove all gun murders from the US. At that point you have to realize it is that the US, for many reasons, is simply a more violent nation. That is not a gun issue.
