@Dwedit Moreover, par2 will do the job for any other files, that are not archives. Especially for those that are meaningless to compress, such as videos or encrypted images.

@AsAs-nd7gy First, you're probably talking about not 7zip, but WinZip's issues. WinZip has quite a strange encoding table, at least for Cyrillic file names. And if something is compressed with WinZip and you're trying to use some other utility to unpack the archive, you need to use some stackexchange-level cmd script or bash string to transcode the filenames. And second, if you need recovery info in linux, just use par2. And it works not only for the archives, but any files - including the ones that it's useless to compress - like video files or encrypted images.

@AsAs-nd7gy Lol, why is it so hard to suggest that the filenames' issue may be on the WinZip side? And why does YT delete my answers for a single downvote... however, it's just rhetorical. Keep denying if you wish.
