0:15 What do you even know about the annoying battery design if you haven't heard of the NiMH gumstick/prismatic batteries like GP 14M1450?

19:25 Wait... so all the displays of this kind are actually vacuum tubes?

Actually, most of the MP3CD players had quite crappy support for MP3. It often lacked VBR or even some bitrate support, could choke or stop at particular monents on particular files, couldn't show the non-Latin letters properly, had wild arrangement logic... To my opinion, only the iRiver players were able to correctly play everything I could possibly encode with various software or find on a store-bought disc. (mostly because its firmware was updated regularly). p.s. And I was especially disappointed about how these players were trying to push their favourite proprietary format like everyone else (WMA in their case), instead of supporting completely free and open and perfect at compression formats like lossy mpc and ogg, or lossless ape and flac.

If you're concerned about contamination of the not-heated-enough tank, how about using some UV LCDs for disinfection?

Memory unlocked: in USSR we've had similar "Danko" flash cubes. I was using them with my LOMO camera (basically just playing with them for I was a bit too young to take photography seriously). And even when they're burned out they were still a lot of fun to look at.

The main issue of advertising mp3cd (especially in the first world) was the fact that mp3 was never a free to use format. And its respective owners (probably Fraunhocer Institute)'s lawyers were hunting for everyone who tried to use it. For the big companies like Apple it wasn't a big deal to obtain a license, but most of the small boombox or car audio makers were definitely trying to lay low on this subject.

To reduce the heat losses even further, you might want to discuss the air recuperators. They may provide much more efficient use of electricity without the need to deal with less ventilation.
