Prior to 2022 invasion Ukraine was 65% in favour of friendly relations with russia and no NATO but majority was in favour of also joining EU. The EU is not even a military alliance and Yanukovych was elected on the basis of joining EU. putin demanded that must not happen and Yanukovych refused to sign for EU membership. That is what started the protest by a few hundred students and Yanukovych used riot police and brutal force against the protest. Only after many students were seriously inured did the thousands take to the streets resulting in yanukovych fleeing! Bottom line is this war has nothing to do with NATO membership and everything to do with putins new russiky mir empire.

  33. The war was started by putin in 2014 because Maidan took away putins control over the Ukraine govt. Ukraine was going to join the EU not NATO until putin invaded Crimea and Donbas. AFTER these attacks Ukraine started to look harder at joining NATO for the same reasons Finland and Sweden have foresaken decades of neutrality and seek the protection of the NATO group. Nato and ruzzia have shared borders peacefully for years ! If putin takes Ukraine then guess what? NATO and ruzzia still share that border!

UK was buying arms from america in a time of great need but america stopped the supply at a crucial time because payment in gold was sent by the steamship Arabic, a White Star liner, and didnt make it to New York. america would not wait for a second shipment and immediately stopped supplies!
