@cargocat1 Not true. Ukraine is VERY important to "the west" and will be an extremely wealthy country. Due to vast deposits of rare metals like lithium, cobalt etc Ukraine is going to be the new "Saudi" supplying these to the green energy sector. I believe a key reason for russias invasion was to control these deposits as russian economy is highly oil based and demand for oil is decreasing

Ukraine is VERY important to "the west" and will be an extremely wealthy country. Ukraine is also crucial to russian future prosperity. Due to vast deposits of rare metals like lithium, cobalt etc Ukraine is going to be the new "Saudi" supplying these to the green energy sector. I believe a key reason for russias invasion was to control these deposits as russian economy is highly oil based and demand for oil is decreasing. putin may well be a master strategist in that respect by realising russias upcoming problem and attempting to seize a solution albeit one that is within the sovereign borders of Ukraine. If putin had not tried to bully Ukraine into submission for the past 30 years russia could have had a working relationship where Ukraine could mine and russia could possibly have been able to refine. Those days are gone now. Slava Ukraina

@seancidy6008 I dont doubt that it is beyond them but if putin had not started the war it would have had western companies to set up and supply plus even after the war russia would get access to western help at some point. greed and need will win over ethics
