No such right exists in the UK. It was taken away years ago by public order acts that nobody objected to at the time.

King Charles is younger than the current president of the USA, and younger than that president's main contender.
6
Wolf 01 So if he swtches off the lights, everybody will be warm and cozy? Is that your argument?
6
Yes, indeed. Wonderful, isn't it?
5
Write to your MP. If you live in a constituency that returned a Conservative MP, write several times. Much of the current financial crisis in the UK is due to the mismanagement of a government that has been in power for 12 years.

"Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" - Dr, samuel Johnson.

@davidkeogh9276 It was actually "stolen" from the Punjab, which was a semi-independent province of Jammu and Kashmir, but no one quite knows how it came to be there. It was certainly stolen by the Iranian Nader Shah from the Mughals, but the Mughal dynasty had lost power before it arrived in Lahore. Lahore, of course, is now in Pakistan, not India.
5
That could be because the majority have long given up trying to argue with ignorant bigots. You cannot have a dialogue with the deaf.

The answer to your question is that the hoteliers themselves are doing very nicely out of it. Two hotels with 100 beds are guaranteed full capacity 52 weeks a year, and 100 fewer beds available for holiday season visitors means that the other hotels will have a few more guests to go round.

@petercollett8484 The monarch's role is to advise and warn, and given the fact that he is already dealing with his second prime minister and second First Minister of Scotland, that is an important consideration. Remember that when Prince Charles started to voice concerns about the environment, he was widely derided. Today, as the dangers from climate change are obvious to all but the most obtuse members of the Republican Party in the USA, his warnings are seen to have been prescient. So far as the "lavish expenditure" is concerned, Britain has not had a coronation since 1953, whereas in the same period, the United States has organised 18 inaugurations of presidents, which must have cost far more.
4
It was laid down in the reign of King Henry III. The date usually given is 1268.
4
@karrietucker8856 Thirdly learn some netiquette. Capital letters indicate that you are shouting.
4
Well, she is going to get ine. Just get used to it.
4
Given that the mosaic was laid down in the 13th century, it has to be archaic.
3
@marvintpandroid2213 Keep telling yourself that. The monarchy survived, and will go on.
3
The "benefits" are called the Sovereign Grant. The Sovereign Grant is a small percentage of the income from the Crown Estates which are administered by the government of the day. At the moment, 75% of the profits from the Crown Estates go to the government, but in 2027 that percentage will rise to 85%. A Presidential Head of state might well cost more. Think about that before you start whining.
3
Well God knows they need a boost to their membership. . It would be a shock if they had more than 300 nationwide.
3
@WilliamMCMXII Prince Philip was a prince of Greece and Denmark, from the house of Sonderburg-Glucksburg. The Sonderburg-Glucksburgs are a cadet branch of the House of Oldenburg, which is the royal house of Denmark. Get your facts right.
3
@Robespierre-lI Oddly enough, the German press is fascinated by the doings of the British royal family. The only difference is that they are less hostile than some of the British tabloids.
3
He became king the moment his mother died. He has been proclaimed King; oaths of allegiance have been sworn to him, and the anointing and coronation are the final acts in the process.
3
Firstly, learn to spell. It's "queen". Secondly, if you are a British citizen, then she is the queen. You don't get a say.
3
I care, so you are wrong. Now stop trolling.
3
They already have, in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
3
You really do not get how it works, do you. Number 1 -the King - is the most important. Number 2 - the heir apparent - is first in line to succeed Number 1, so he comes second.
3
The last actual king to visit France was George VI, who went to Normandy after D-Day. At that time, "we" were at war with the Third Reich, and the Free French forces were our allies.
2
Are you referring to the coronation, or do you think there will be an extra charge to walk on the mosaic?
2
@Intbel What a nasty thing to wish.
2
Have fun glorying in your misery. Do you feel better now that bile is out of your system?
2
Bad luck. If you are a British citizen then he IS your king. There is nothing you can do about it.
2
@marvintpandroid2213 Remember what happened to those foolish enough to go down that route in the 17th century.
2
@marvintpandroid2213 Not in the immediate short-term, they didn't, and overall, the Commonwealth was such a disaster that Charles II was invited to return.
2
Define the common heritage of "the British Isles and also Ireland".
2
"Waste" is the word for which you are looking A "waist" is the thick bit round the middle of your body. The bit that matches your head.
2
@theyatsyspam Yes indeed. we would still be burning witches.
2
Who is this "we" of whom you speak?
2
Should have gone to Specsavers.
2
Ignore the comments here. As state visits go, this has gone well. Remember it is the fourth state visit by a South African President since the end of apartheid.
2
The main deciding factor may well be something as prosaic as height. The current queen is about the same height as Queen Mary, while Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother was considerably shorter. Accordingly, at her coronation, she chose to wear the shorter crown used by Queen Alexandra, and Queen Mary was therefore able to wear a circlet from her own crown (including the Koh-in-Noor). At this coronation, an adapted version of Queen Mary's crown will be appropriate for a taller lady.
2
@WilliamMCMXII His maternal grandmother was the daughter of the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorn, a Scottish family that traces its heritage back to Robert the Bruce. His maternal grandfather was the son of George V and Mary of Teck, who despite her name, was brought up entirely in England. There obviously is German blood in his ancestry, because in 1714, the Whig aristocracy were determined to find a Protestant successor to Queen Anne. Cheerfully ignoring 15 Catholic candidates with better claims to the throne, they picked the Elector of Hannover, who became King George I. After that, the continuing demand that the throne be passed down through protestants ensured that the royal family princes married and/or Scandinavian ladies.
2
@winstoningram99 He has already managed that. The betting is on something ike 20 years.
2
Just as Bedlam is the real alternative to sanity.
2
The Platinum Jubilee was last year - 2022.
2
@matthewthomas0330 So what relevance does that have to a virtual tour of Westminster Abbey?
2
Scotland has its own Parliament; its own church; its own legal system; its own police force; its own educational system and the Scottish banks print their own notes. It is hardly a Reichsprotektorat.
2
@humnnn You are "out-of-date", aren't you? Less than a kilometer from the Bundestag there is an installation entitled "The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe". It is diagonally opposite the site of the former Reich Chancellery and on the Gudrun Kolmar Strasse. Gudrun Kolmar was a poet. She was murdered in Auschwitz. The current generation of Germans bear no responsibility for that, but they have clearly done as much as is humanly possible to atone for the behaviour of previous generations.
2
Or xenophobia.
2
1600 obsessives is hardly the population of the country.
2
PLEASE stop taking flakka.
2
@cdean2789 You have asked this three times? Why are you so obsessed with the Duke of york? Of course he is going. Why should he not go?
2
@cdean2789 Well, you got that wrong, didn't you? I thought the claim was that he couldn't sweat.
