Yes, indeed. Wonderful, isn't it?

@WilliamMCMXII Prince Philip was a prince of Greece and Denmark, from the house of Sonderburg-Glucksburg. The Sonderburg-Glucksburgs are a cadet branch of the House of Oldenburg, which is the royal house of Denmark. Get your facts right.

@Robespierre-lI Oddly enough, the German press is fascinated by the doings of the British royal family. The only difference is that they are less hostile than some of the British tabloids.

@WilliamMCMXII His maternal grandmother was the daughter of the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorn, a Scottish family that traces its heritage back to Robert the Bruce. His maternal grandfather was the son of George V and Mary of Teck, who despite her name, was brought up entirely in England. There obviously is German blood in his ancestry, because in 1714, the Whig aristocracy were determined to find a Protestant successor to Queen Anne. Cheerfully ignoring 15 Catholic candidates with better claims to the throne, they picked the Elector of Hannover, who became King George I. After that, the continuing demand that the throne be passed down through protestants ensured that the royal family princes married and/or Scandinavian ladies.

@humnnn You are "out-of-date", aren't you? Less than a kilometer from the Bundestag there is an installation entitled "The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe". It is diagonally opposite the site of the former Reich Chancellery and on the Gudrun Kolmar Strasse. Gudrun Kolmar was a poet. She was murdered in Auschwitz. The current generation of Germans bear no responsibility for that, but they have clearly done as much as is humanly possible to atone for the behaviour of previous generations.
