@RyanE01 I had hoped that after the coronation we would hear less from you obsessives, but i was clearly wrong. Jimmy Savile fooled the entire nation. He managed to establish himself as a "character", while simultaneously performing flamboyant acts of charity which raised something in the region of 40 million pounds. He was the voice of a government safety campaign - Clunk; Click - and his children's programmes were singled out for praise by Mrs. Mary Whitehouse as being exactly the type of wholesome, anodyne family entertainment she espoused. He was decorated on the advice of two British Prime ministers,; Sir Edward Heath gave him the OBE and Baroness Thatcher lobbied enthusiastically for his knighthood. For both these honours, the civil service would have carried out background checks. He also received a papal knighthood from Pope John Paul II. The pope has now been canonized and is now a Saint. On Savile's death, the City of Leeds gave him what could best be described as a municple state funeral, complete with a lying in state. So LEAVE THE KING ALONE. He was not the only one taken in, and he was hardly a "best friend".
