True, but that is how the system works. She was elected by the European Parliament, because it is that elected body which, in turn, elects the President of the European Commission. It is the same system that allows the Speaker of the House of Commons to be elected by the members of the House of Commons.

As you point out, that system works so "good" - you mean "well" (adverb not adjective), that you UKL has had three prime ministers in asingle year. You have just proved the point that I am making.
