Comments by "Neil McBeath" (@neilmcbeath954) on "UK reverses some incentives for foreign workers in bid to cut migration" video.
This is what happens when official policy is made in reaction to GB News, the Daily Wail and the latest opinion poll.

@thomasfyfield6756 In 2011 Davis Cameron's government cut the number of nursing training places, despite being warned that this would result in a shortage of trained personnel. In 2015 David Cameron went on to abolish bursaries for nursing training in ENGLAND. (Scotland, wales and Northern Ireland all saw the folly of this move) In 2020 English bursaries were restored, but were less generous tan before. No wonder the UK had to import just under 11,600 Indian nurses (sorry legal immigrants) last year.

@charloettie It is what the sponsoring partner has to earn, but even that is no guarantee that the spouse will be able to accompany her/him. As you say, it is absurdly high figure.

@arthurdixon5890 The operative verb in that sentence is "might". It assumes that there are British nationals both capable and willing to do the jobs.

@arthurdixon5890 There are some people - one of them is the Prime Minister and another is Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg - who could pay more tax without having to go to food banks.

@highspiritz9 Yes, but it is not better than the Arab Gulf, where there is an exponential demand for health care.

@arthurdixon5890 It really does not work like that. If low pay is raised to ensure that employment is preferable to state aid, then the cost of such pay rises are passed on to those purchasing goods and services. This means that goods and services become more expensive fueling another round of pay increases and all that happens is that this merry-go-round stokes inflation.

@Patrick-y4d1z No, iy would deprive the university secor of income from overseas students' fees, and it would deprive the NHS of essential nurses, and cripple the care home sector.

@Theworldasitistoday Why do you refer to "'specialists' with no qualifications" as if this were a genuine phenomenon? It is surely very rare for a specialist (however defined) to have no qualifications in her/his specialization.
