Tell that to the citizens of Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Monarchioes remain very acceptable, and not just in Europe.

Wrong. The profits from the Crown Estates go to the government of the day, and that government then pays out the Sovereign Grant, which funds the expenditure of the Royal Family.

@brianquigley1940 "Not my king" is a false and fatuous slogan that has been adopted by a pathetic grouplet of obsessives who generate more column inches than they deserve. At royal visits they have taken a leaf out of the playbook of the infamous Westboro Baptist Church by waving bright yellow signs, and they have also developed the knack of infiltrating themselves into groups of school children and pensioners, to give the impression that their numbers are bigger than they really are, and to ensure that they are safe from confrontation.

@kenzie-.- I do like him. i think he is doing an exceptionally good job, and I note, with some interest, that nobody ever criticized his late mother when she appeared biannually in the robes of the Order of the Thistle. I also understand that Charles III will be remembered long after you and the other snidely childish critics are long dead and forgotten.

Possibly because King Charles' mother received the news of he father's death while she was in Kenya. Possibly because he was invited to visit Kenya and has not yet been invited to visit South Africa. The reasons are infinite.
