@Tourist1967 I do not know what you are trying to say, but let me explain this VERY simply. In 1940 it was quite clear that Chamberlain had lost the confidence of much of his own party, let alone the opposition. At that time, the Labour Party was prepared to join a wartime coalition government, provided that government was headed by Churchill. The pending 1940 elections were cancelled, and the next general election was not held until July 1945. The Conservatives did not win that election. Clement Attlee won for the Labour Party with a 146 seat majority. The Conservatives returned to power until 1951, when they scraped home with a 17 seat majority, and under those circumstances, having a Prime Minister who literally sat, drooling, in some cabinet meetings did not augur well for the party or the country.
