@barryjatkinson On the contrary, you can easily vote for a republic. Greece held two referenda in 1973 and 1974, respectively. The first, during the rule of the colonels, established a republic, but after the fall of the colonels, the restored civilian government deemed all their actions unconstitutional. So a second referendum was held, which confirmed the results of the first, but which also saw a significant rise in support for a monarchy. More recently, Australia held referendum in 1999. In that instance, the approval rating for the monarchy was 55% to 45%, with every single state voting for retention. Most recently, in 2008, Tuvalu held a similar referendum. The vote was 65% to 35% in favour of retaining the monarchy, with the result that King Charles II is now the Head of State in both Australia and Tuvalu.
