@lordfogg9728 Fine. What type would you like? One with a purely ceremonial president who has no say whatsoever in government policy, as in Switzerland, Israel and Ireland? The advantage is that such presidents are never divisive figures, but that they are also so bland that they tend to be chosen from politicians who are pretty much nonentities. Then there are executive presidents, elected by popular vote, as in the USA, but that can result in deadlock if the president and the leadership of the largest party are at loggerheads. If you do not believe me, remember Obama's second term. Then, of course, there are the imperial presidents, as in France, elected by popular vote, unable to run for more than two terms, but able to effectively do as they like during the second term because they are no longer answerable to anybody. It i also interesting to note that France is currently on its Fifth Republic. They have been tinkering with the constitution since they deposed King Louis XVI.
