@Madoldcatlady Not for a minute. The Guardia, like the Times, The Telegraph and the Financial Times, however, does assume that its readers are relatively competent. That is in stark contrast with, for example, The Sun, which can be read from cover to cover by anyone with a reading age of eight. It is also in contrast with The Daily Express and The Mail, both of which prefer "celebrity" gossip to hard news, and both of which telegraph how their readers are to respond - "fury" generally means that one or two people have expressed mild irritation, while "hilarious" signifies vaguely amusing.
