  2. Louise Perry says the same thing. While there's certainly a degree of truth to it, I think it's a terrible attitude of pessimism (leading to nihilism).

  3.  @BS-vx8dg  Well, we weren't starting from 100% world hunger, but I do agree with you. Same thing with civil rights. SOME progress has been made, but certainly not as much as possible.

  6.  @richardlefaive1944  I never mentioned Sowell. I'm simply saying that the attitude of "no progress, only trade-offs" is a terrible one that plays right into the hands of the postmodern left. Even if we could prove that there's been no objective or lasting progress thus far, it would be of no benefit (only detriment) to think that way. I'm betting she and Mary use that line for shock value to try and gain traction for their movement.
