@ThatsMrPencilneck2U I don't know what any of that has to do with the loss of role models but what I would say to you is, find other ways to stand out. After all, you're only looking for one woman, right?

If I'm going to invest 10,000 hours of hard work, perseverance and grit while suffering guaranteed injustice, it will damn well be in pursuit of my passion--no matter how whimsical that passion may be. Don't assume you're Jay-Z. Assume your potential is much greater.

@we4r119 You could say, "Sorry, but I'm focused on other things right now." Because if you weren't focused on other things, you'd certainly give a guy a chance, right? Because surely you're not all about looks and the superficial, right? Are you suggesting that men should approach women that they don't find appealing? Should we be happy about being shot down and just tuck our tails and move on? Should women be able to reject at will (and without reason) without prospect of a verbal repercussion? These are all valid questions, no matter how harsh you think they sound. Yet women will say, men just need to get over their fragile egos. But it's not about that...the reality is that there's a lot more pressure on men in regard to success with the opposite sex. Much of which we put on ourselves, but it's still there. We're ingrained with the idea that you simply can't be a man unless you score with women. My issue is the women don't even try to understand this stuff. They seem to be in their own world. Note: I in no way support the idea of a man trying to intimidate a woman who rejects him, and men should always strive to take things like a man. But as the OP pointed out, it takes a hell of a lot of courage, so if I react with a harsh word or two at being shot down without a hint, well, at least don't act surprised. P.S. You have a good point about the impact of prior abuse. That's not to be overlooked.

@meesamagill1193 And what I'm saying is that you can't expect someone to be happy about being rejected, especially if you know just how much it takes for a man to approach a woman. Devastation is the word, yet you would look for "grace" in response. Yes, at some point it becomes harassment and should be treated as such, but it's not reasonable to expect every man to just turn and walk away without a word. What you CAN do is take it as a sign that you made the right call. The man you're looking for surely WOULD "take it like a man," right? (but don't expect to run into many of those in a lifetime) Anyway, you certainly don't have to apologize or explain, but shouldn't you at least know (yourself) why you rejected someone? And if you get only positive responses, will you be inclined to stop and wonder why you didn't even give a man the time of day?

@t-.-t. A stalker is a criminal. So is a murderer. Those are different things than someone who is merely upset about being rejected (and if you've ever been rejected, you understand how it feels). If you truly equate "male" with 'someone who murders if he doesn't get his way', then there's not much point in the conversation. How would you advise a young woman to reject a man?

@MySimDied There was a rumor that women were less concerned about looks than men. This doesn't seem to be the case. There's a current study out that says 70% of women wish they were approached by men more often. I'll let you draw conclusions from there.

@MySimDied God forbid there be any spontaneity in this stolid, sterile world. "if my first reaction is entirely negative it will never turn positive" I'll be sure to keep that in mind if I run into you on the street. Btw, I take responsibility just fine but thanks for the lecture.

@missrebel634 Women rarely say "no," they intimate "no" which often does mean maybe or try harder (in my experience). Resistance is part of the dance, always has been. Men simply need to learn self-control so as to not get anxious and blow it. Almost any man can win almost any woman's attention.
