  1. Nietzsche was a highly complex and somewhat contradictory guy. I think McGilchrist put it best when he said Nietzsche is toxic...but that toxic things in the right dosage stimulate and fortify. You might say, if Nietzsche doesn't kill you he'll make you stronger. Yes, I do like the guy.

  4. I disagree with the need for suffering in relation to meaning. I think we need pain but not suffering (which, to me, is chronic pain). I prefer Yuval Harari's take on suffering. To me, it's the thing that we have to rid the world of. Only then will we truly know we've made progress.

  9. ​@@johanvos7827 Humans are both good and BAD. Whatever part of yourself you reject, expands; but whatever aspects of yourself you dwell on, also expand. Hence, you are half right. I have no problem recognizing and addressing my mistakes or shortcomings, but I would never label them "evil." Such would certainly bring me to dwell on them and/or attempt to excise parts of me I don't yet understand. It's all within us. Integrating the shadow is the means by which we set it free...set ourselves free. Special note: Not all suffering is self-induced; and to take responsibility for imposed suffering just because it gives you a sense of control is tragic and destructive.
