@jonhurley3467 Capitalism certainly has its faults and I haven't seen anyone deny that. But it's the best system we have (so far) in that it's the closest one to nature. In pursuit of civilization, things seem to go most smoothly with the least deviance from nature and its laws.

@reine5372 That's great, except that people like to own things, people like to feel superior to other people, and people, well, they seem to f-ing LOVE money. I believe that's 3 strikes.

@reine5372 No, we're naturally bad. Look at children. They haven't been corrupted by the system yet they're mean and cruel to each other. Humans have natural (or "nurtural" but inevitable) insecurities which cause them to do awful things, behavior which must be constrained by a neutral system. Capitalism is the closest thing we have to such a system (so far). The problem is really that people are failing to grow up and self-actualize, which is due to several things. If our development wasn't being so arrested (which isn't a direct result of capitalism), socialism would probably work quite well. Look at Star Trek. But capitalism doesn't encourage the need to degrade each other, we start doing that before we enter the capitalist system. In short, you're putting the cart before the horse. Solve the underlying insecurities first or else you're just trading one set of problems for another.
