Yes, this is right up there with the show Dance Moms...a criminal disgrace.

I think you're missing a key piece of the puzzle: isolation. Or at least a sense of isolation (which can often lead to actual self-isolation). Also, we need a distinction between casual and bonafide conspiracy theorists. A true conspiracy theorist will take some sort of action upon genuine fears (prepping, storing weapons, acquiring surveillance gear), while a casual theorist is just going along with the herd to ease their dissonance--and hence not much of a threat to society. As you indicated, most of us are casual conspiracy theorists.

Self-acceptance is crucial, but it's also important to be able to say, "that's not ME."

To the author's point, we're not soothing our "babies" until age 25. We've gone from one extreme to the other, and still no one has a clue what's the proper age to let a child sit and cry/sulk. Unpopular opinion- Women are more emotionally vulnerable than men. This book was written by two men and I would say applies wholesale to all but the most feminine men. But I do believe there needs to be a separate standard for emotional abuse when it comes to women. Special care is required, as women lean closer to the resilience category here.

I accepted the things I can't change. Now I'll reject them and find a way to change them anyway.

Emotional transparency is a beautiful thing.

I'm challenging her assertion. Forced acceptance isn't acceptance in my book. To put it another way, acceptance is about catching yourself (and ties to self-acceptance). If you've hit bottom, you obviously didn't catch yourself. A person may wake up and face reality for a time, but I wouldn't expect it to last.

@whataboutthis10 Only in mass numbers, when things get out of hand. In normal times, social pressure keeps conspiracy nonsense to a minimum.
