@user-wp5fe8ec6l dude, you're crying

Bari Weiss is the farthest thing from "establishment." She's something of a loose canon, but in a good way. In fact, we might now have the IDW without her. Also, she's one of the few people to give China the criticism it deserves. Look her up.
1
Well you shouldn't get a damn sticker if you didn't do your job right! ffs
1
Or you could just integrate the whole U.S. education system and make it all FREE. Only 1/3 of Americans go off to college but EVERYONE is going to need education beyond high school to make it in the future world. I like Yang but here he fails.
1
@sprezzatura8755 Maybe so, but don't you think experiencing these classical values vicariously through fictitious characters is just a little...tragic?
1
@sprezzatura8755 What does that have to do with substituting fantasy crap for real, meaningful human experience?
1
paulsan2112 I'm pretty sure she would...note for note.

Out of shape people need to be 'broken', or at least broken in. They need of sense of what their bodies can really do. It's up to them to develop the discipline going forward, which they probably won't.
1
Yeah, the whole thing is silliness. They start off with a pretty vs. sexy experiment and then suddenly add in a bunch of intrinsic stuff that changes it to sexy vs. beautiful. Bad science. They never do consider the social standing factor of "hotness" -- or how men can also be hot. Snoop Dogg wasn't hot (or pretty) when he was just another brother in the hood but when he made it big he became hot. Go figure.
1
@camilawenger Yes, but the experiment is completely dumb because nobody closes their eyes and imagines elegance, grace and intelligence. They see a form/image. Basically, these guys are out of their wheelhouse and it makes their conclusions dubious even if they had good intentions. For one thing, they don't even properly define "hot", which certainly includes one's social status. So they're reduced to pretty vs. sexy which doesn't correlate with the sociological assertions being made.
1
paulsan2112 Remember when Joe called out Jordan Peterson on enforced monogamy? Did you quit following JP and start trolling him at every turn after that?
1
@monkeykingmo-ri777 I can't say she's ever spoken a single word of feminism.
1
You all look pretty stupid because Joe Rogan genuinely likes this girl and could sit there and talk to her for days.
1
The real question here is whether money can buy dignity. People like Andrew Yang believe that it can. I myself am skeptical but not entirely opposed to the experiment. The problem is, it's a one-way street...you can't shut down UBI once it's instituted.

I think the point was interpersonal coordination, which kind of implies communication.

Alcohol is under attack by everyone who either can't drink, or can't allow themselves to drink.
1
I believe this is wrong. Human beings are naturally geared toward conservation of energy. You have to reach a certain intensity to "forget yourself" (i.e. transcend the anxiety) while training. The 70% rule is a huge trap because it alters your baseline perception and leaves you in full awareness of your exertion. The next day you will only hit 68%, then 66% and so on. It seems a recipe for mediocrity. Consistency is crucial but without intensity you've got nothing.

@beanindividual4000 On my worst day I'm not as sad as Dore.
1
@majidminhas8954 Cool, man
1
@TheInes5 Perhaps, but now they do.
1
@GrubKiller436 How does that change anything?
1
@j.c.nightwalker5322 Very true, but it's the way those qualities are prioritized that makes all the difference.
1
@NastheVictorious I agree. But this guy does seem a little bit soft.
1
@charlespanache7047 Guys like Sapolsky, Rushkoff and Junger all have good ideas but they seem like they spent one too many days in the hippie camp. It's just a certain feel that they have which begins with lacking an edge.
1
These guys seem like failed theater majors.
1
Sure, you should pace yourself within your actual workout and not just go straight to max weights, but you should still push your limits if you want to grow. That's the whole point.
1
This is terrible. What about the fact that "hotness" is linked to one's social status? What about the fact that a woman has little control over how pretty she is and when she tries to control it (with makeup) she often ends up looking more sexy (slutty?) than pretty? What about the fact that a woman DOES have immediate control over her sexiness (clothes, working out, etc) but that beauty requires time to develop...yet hormones and biological clocks don't tend to wait (not to mention that men are naturally drawn to youthfulness)? When we oversimplify we look like complete asses. Stick to fields you know something about gentlemen.
1
The point is that Rogan lends himself to such (playful) ridicule.
1
Exactly. And since you really shouldn't train the same muscles every day, it's just bad advice all around.
