How's it going now? I think the PUR brand of Xylitol is just fine. You could also just buy pure granulated Xylitol from any grocery store or health food store. It will be in the baking section near the sugar. Personally, I prefer that when I'm home, and I carry the PUR mints in my bag for when I'm out.

I remember she says in one of her videos that the little bit of sorbitol in the mouthwash is not a huge deal. Her comment on sorbitol feeding harmful bacteria was in reference to chewing gums that contain sorbitol which people chew all day long. But if you are worried about sorbitol, you could always finish off with a few Xylitol crystals in your mouth at the end of your cleaning routine.

@WohaliTheOneandOnly maybe try a different brand of Xylitol mints or gum, or try pure hundred percent Xylitol crystals. And maybe try only half a gram at a time, but take it more frequently through the day.

You might honestly not need the whole system. These are chemicals after all, and Listerine is very acidic. If you have healthy teeth, just the xylitol after meals would probably be enough for you, imo.

Is the Listerine still burning? Maybe dilute it with water.

@lillybp5 it's probably the Listerine. Maybe skip it for now and try using the other products again?

@dr.elliephillips Doctor Phillips, would you be willing to explain how Listerine only targets the bad bacteria but spares the good bacteria?

@Hobby-w3h is the skin inside of your mouth still peeling? Or did it stop? Doctor Phillips says that as your biofilm becomes healthier, the peeling stops.

Try omitting the Listerine for a few days and see if that helps.

@limitmaker3158 thank you so much for sharing your experience! I just started using her system, and I also have some gum recession. Unfortunately, the exposed root is brown in colour and there is an indentation ie erosion/decay, and if I recall from one of her videos, the gum cannot grow back over root that has an indentation, unless I misunderstood her. But, already, my teeth are far less sensitive to hot and cold in just two days of using her system. Amazing!

@CrystalHennington-u7s I remember her saying in one of her videos that yes we do share our oral bacteria with one another, and so your husband's dental problems can affect you as well. But, he can also heal his oral microbiome with her system, even if he has none of his original teeth left. So, both of you should start using her system, and then you'll have nothing to worry about.

I think Listerine kills more of the bad bacteria than Xylitol does?

@airrik2653 yes, I do remember her saying not to dilute it. I just started using her system, and I bought the original Listerine. I'm too afraid to use it full strength right now LOL, so I'm starting with a diluted amount and plan to work my way up to full strength. I haven't received the ACT mouthwash , so after the diluted Listerine, I rinse my mouth with plain water and then finish with a bit of granulated Xylitol to alkalize my mouth. I also remember her saying not to force anything painful to be in the mouth. I think she also said that we might need to allow a healthy biofilm to grow inside our mouth before Listerine stops causing a burning sensation. The biofilm is all over, including on our tongue.

@martinsvensson6884 yes, that's what I'm thinking as well. Some bacteria thrive in acidic environments, whereas others thrive in alkaline environments. I hope Listerine only kills the bad bacteria!
