  1. Learn the history, my friend. Banks invented the currency in a form of paper bills as the equivalent of the gold they kept in their vault. While noone realized the there was no hold on the bank for the amount of the issued bills the banks were printing the gold literally. Nowadays they do not even need to print bills. Thus the price of the gold on the market is for "paper" gold, not for physical. And that price can be any, $2 or $20000, depending on how much the banks declare they have.
