  2. The hostages were taken with the intention of being exchanged for prisoners. I doubt they anticipated they would have to provide food, water, shelter and medicine for some 200 people for five months. And you see that Israel is indiscriminately bringing down building and preventing aide from going in, even with their being the supposed leverage of hostages. What would they bring doing without them.
