With his unique phrasing, stressing certain words, and that Scottish accent, this man has a very compelling way of speaking.

@ZenaHerbert I totally agree with you, and it’s not just gratuitous speech, when he speaks it’s really well thought out and of substance. He also has a knack for incorporating descriptive phrases that catch you off guard. For example recently I heard him on a program and while he was switching topics he said something like ‘And now onto the other dog that didn’t bark.’ One time I heard him say ‘All the perfume in Arabia won’t clean those hands,’ which I later found out was a quote from MacBeth. Also love the way he rolls his Rs.

@ZenaHerbert You know another big difference between him and US politicians is that he doesn’t speak in slogans or evasively. He’s really giving thoughtful and direct responses in these clips of him here. He doesn’t blurt out some nonsense impulsively, just to make a comeback. It’s really rare to see anyone who has is able to think and speak like this. He is so different than our gimmick oriented politicians in the US, it’s really like nothing we have here. Makes our politicians look like a joke, they all use speechwriters and this like this. I think for many they go to politics because they crave power or fame, but I think this man got into politics because he really had ideas and convictions.

@ZenaHerbert Right, that is how it is in the US. They have talking points which they’ve been trained to follow, and they can speak in terms of slogans, but you don’t really get people who can express thoughtful views or convictions. Our system is rigged such that you need money to run for public office. The only way to get that money is to be beholden to special interest groups. So the system selects for narcissistic type people who are willing to be bought off in exchange for the fame and power they get from holding political office.
