  1. I wouldn’t call it hysterical or even counter productive from their perspective. Israel has no interest or need for any kind of a peace deal or hostage return deal. Their only ambition is to get the Palestinians off that land, one way or another, and then take it for themselves. The hostages are just a political inconvenience to that government and the majority of the citizens there. One of the big pro Israel talking points was that the noble Israelis have always wanted peace, but they have no partner for peace, etc. It’s all just political theater, the reality is they just want the land.

  2. I think the culture is such that they are kept paranoid about the outside world, and told the only ones who will protect you are the state and the military. It’s just a guess, but that’s the impression I get after listening to their views on some of these clips. It’s like the people are immersed since birth in propaganda that these people are after you just because your Jews, and we have to dominate them or else they will come get us all. That seems to be the whole fabric of that society: paranoia and preemptive brutality. One kibbutz resident after October 7 was blaming the government asking why did they remove the tanks and armed guards. It doesn’t occur to them that what is wrong here that we expect tanks and armed guards around our villages? They just dismiss it as oh, the Palestinians are anti-semetic. It’s so absurd, but that seems to be the culture there.

  4. These people don’t seem to understand that their government doesn’t care about a hostage return deal, and doesn’t even care about the hostages themselves, except for political purposes. Their government would rather neutralize its own citizens, rather than allow them to be taken hostage, for this very reason. These people are probably a tiny number, but still they are a nuisance to a government whose only concern is butchering people and grabbing more land.
