  1. I know of someone who was the child of two half-Jews who was in the RAD and might have ended up in the army if he hadn't been in prison for political reasons. What helped him was a certificate from 1935 that both his parents were brought up in the Catholic faith (even when his father grew up in a household with two Jews who would only convert many years after his birth.)

  2. Funny enough they also looked at the surnames of his great-grandparents, and they wrote that the surname "Pollak" looked suspicious but apparently didn't investigate further.
