  1. I'll be 52 this year, and my paternal uncle's first wife had been born with polio, here in America. She spent her life in a wheelchair (her legs were never usable, and pretty much stayed kid-sized).. I was always conscious of that big, polio vaccination scar on my arm when I was around her- kind of like a 'magic charm'..
