They're being a role model. The international arms trade is not a new thing to exist, and if Ukraine can buy arms or even get them at US and EU taxpayers expense, Russia should also be allowed to trade. Freedom of trade was the basis of the "rules based order", but even that one isn't spared from the long list of values the West breaks while playing its geopolitical games in the middle east, Europe and Asia.

@seanlindsay7610 what's that supposed to say? The price of freedom is still greater than any we would've paid for "prosperity" via your institutions of trade and policy. At least we have our freedom. You can oppose us at the UN when asking for help with the African dictators you've legitimized, but at least, we have our sovereignty. Whatever it means, we got it.

@angela-qh8gl SA is already living in a free democratic world. If anything is spreading to SA, it will be because the West cannot allow people to exercise their rights to freedom of association, and so must oppress them for expressing such desires.

@toddsterling4949 there are tons of fake numbers out there posing as "facts". Some of those numbers are from the same sources that said Russia was running out of missiles for 14 months.

@ELVIR2 freedom of trade has nothing to do with industrialization. Are you truly educated? I hear most Americans skip school altogether trying to become the next Bill Gates. You can't just use false equivalence everytime you find yourself faced with uncomfortable facts.

@ELVIR2 well my friend, there's such a thing as being uneducated and rich. Criminals, loan sharks, bullies and tax collectors come to mind as easy examples. But my point is, SA is playing the role of a leader in Africa, because what the SA government is doing is what most Africans wished their own governments had the spine to attempt: to participate in all of the fields that the erstwhile agreed "rules based world order" would permit sovereign States to be involved with. For the simple minded, call it "freedom of trade".
