@piezerchief its just a typo. His point is clear and well-made.

@quinnreverance611 there is no justification for NATO's continued existence after the fall of the USSR. NATO's expansion shows Russia that the Cold War was never over. The mere possibility of Ukraine membership represents an unnecessary escalation which NATO can prevent if they really wanted peace.

@quinnreverance611 but they've been independent. What do you mean Russia wants them back, are they paying taxes to Russia or what? For 8 years starting in 1991, Russia did not move one inch towards even its own former Soviet Republics. What's the evidence to suggest 'Russia wants them back', that existed before 1999 when Poland, Lithuania and Czechoslovakia joined NATO? Let's be factual and quit hearsay. Everything that led up to Ukraine today started in 1999.

Dave Coyle calling me names won't make you sound smarter, trust me. In fact, its quite the very opposite.

@avel2863 can you carefully explain the threats that Russia posed to Lithuania and Latvia when they joined NATO in the early 2000s, that would make them 'ask to join'? Was there an instance of Russian threat or something? Just tell me what these reasons would be. I'm trying to decide if you really understand the facts or its just media hearsay you've been believing.

@M_3_H_0 as for Russia violating 1994 Budapest: seems you forgot there was a coup in 2014, and just maybe the Russians were moving to secure their people in the East against gen0cyde considering Svoboda's open secrets. And as for that treaty again, have you forgotten there was a referendum in Crimea which they overwhelmingly voted to join Russia? Here on YT, BBC and NBC were live on ground to speak to the locals. It was like a family reunion. "Independent and sovereign nations" Serbia was also independent and sovereign, but they refused and we remember how that turned out with Belgrade. So much distraction. 30 countries is already huge for NATO. Maybe its time to stop expanding? Its their taxpayers that will suffer.
