@Milkster1 As World War II ended and the relationship between the Soviet Union and other Allied powers deteriorated, NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, was formed in 1949 with the aim, first and foremost, of acting as a deterrent to the threat of Soviet expansion in Europe after World War II. When the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact ceased to exist in 1991, NATO continued to exist, even launching wars against other countries like Serbia- acting unilaterally against UN resolutions- while continuing to expand in such a way as to cut off Russia's access to the ocean and trade routes to isolate it even while taking territories that were formerly allied to Russia in the Warsaw Pact. Just go and watch "why Ukraine is the West's fault" by John Mearscheimer or search "Vijay Prashad Ukraine". It's only "beyond insane" to people who haven't done their due diligence in research to understand the relationships between the two superpowers since the end of WWII.
