This propaganda never fails to garner tons of upvotes, it's a testament to the efficacy of Langley's Operation Mockingbird. 'Murica. Fucc yeah.

@tommygunnggg1127 of all the countries that joined NATO after 1999, only Slovenia had a referendum about it. The rest of them were forced into NATO by the fiat decisions of their political class.

@JJRM8 yes, the B-61s haven't been moved forward from Rammstein and Incirlik yet. But they're there. Also the NATO bases in Poland and Romania have MK41 launchers the contents of which are unknown. Secondly, NATO bases hold anti ballistic missile interceptors. By encroaching forward NATO is trying to nullify Russian nuclear deterrence from previously neutral territory. They have every right to see this as an existential threat and react accordingly.

Vivek is responsible for what he says, not what you (mis) understand.

@ItsJustSimpleMe so much nonsense in a single post. Picking out parts of history to demonize the other side with is a game that two can play and it certainly also applies to the British, Americans, Poles, Germans and French. YouTube didn't let my long form response through.

@eduardtarniceriu102 they've already lost the entirety of 3 generations of fighting age men X, Y and Boomer. At what point do you think it's enough? When all their Gen Z are dead too?

I think it's incorrect to say that countries joined NATO of their own free will. Any group of politicians can join their Davos club, receive crazy funding, win elections with that money and run the propaganda necessary to make their citizens look the other way while they apply for membership. That has nothing to do with the people as a national decision.

@thelobbyofhobbies3244 that's because a steady stream of propaganda had already been unleashed on the masses to make them more accepting of such a reckless move in lieu of more productive peaceful coexistence initiatives like negotiation and dialogue. That's what "soft power" is, the ability to interfere in the affairs of another country without the use of explicit force or violence. Go and research on the CIA sponsored Operation mockingbird and how it works on the minds of people to generate herd mentality which politicians exploit once the propaganda groundwork has been done. Fact is only Slovenia had a public referendum about it. Finland cancelled their plans for a referendum when war started in 2022. However I don't think you will do your own research after everything I've said here because that's how people are nowadays: they always want to be "right" and win arguments without knowing they've already been influenced.

@gsurtos6588 if you have to ask, you don't need to know. Jeffrey Sachs and John Mearsheimer could help you though.

"Russia's expansionist history proves otherwise". The same argument could be made for the French (Napoleon), the Germans (Hitler) both of whom have attempted to invade Russia before and the British empire "pretending to be a defensive alliance", an argument the Serbs and Libyans and Syrians would definitely agree with. A serious argument begins analysis from the end of the last conflict in Europe (the Cold War) and works back the sequence of escalations to arrive at the source of the problem. You're not cut out for diplomatic intelligence. Know this and know peace.
