@alexseguin5245 dictators aren't born, they're made. Often after getting voted democratically in at first. Then the true colours show.

That interpretation is entirely subjective. The USSR was a great superpower, rivaling the USA and surpassing it in a few fields. It had a difficult past like every other country, but they were looking very promising! Just like China today. Little wonder Russia and China are basically allied in principle today.

@alexseguin5245 you have to be completely drowning in hypocrisy not to see the similarities. At the moment both countries are led by dictators who modified their countries' laws to suppress free speech and dissent.

@jessefisher1809 as far as the economy is concerned, China beats you hands down. Win for authoritarianism. What's a "democracy index"? Does it take Trudeau's dictatorship into account? Please include links where Russians were arrested for holding blank sheets of paper. You can't make up stories and not prove them, that shii works in the third world which Canada is fast becoming.
