@MrRecrute you're contradicting yourself, because if Ukraine and Georgia were offered a fast track route to NATO membership in 2008, that means they were INVITED by NATO to join, which is as much a red flag as any, setting the stage for the security concerns that would eventually force Russia to take preemptive action in 2014 in response to the maidan coup. Why is NATO inviting a country at peace to join and in spite of numerous warnings by Putin? His point stands: the Ukrainian government had shown a clear intention of joining NATO both prior to and since Russia's intervention.
